Gantz did surprise me when I first saw it but I didn't require extensive therapy. If the kid needs extensive therapy after what he just saw, his parents must have not helped matters. Freaking out in front of child is not going to help them deal with a situation. Nor does isolating them from reality and making it hard for them to talk about.
There have only been two times where my mind has been traumatized. Once in the 6th grade when my grandma was watching montel. I was walking past the TV when a fat lady ran up to the camera and screamed, "Trix are for kids, Bitch!". Twice. In the 9th grade, I watched then end of Snake eyes with my mom and the torture scene where the boxer was beating Nicolas cage freaked me out. Took me a week to get it out of my mind.

What it's going to do is cost lots and lots of money, which of course the mom will want the city to pay for (plus some more to cover the hardship her family has had to endure because of this). Cha-ching!

The only time I've been traumatized is is in the movie Heavy Metal, when the kid gets shot with a bunch of spikes, and dies trying to pull one out. Even though it did give me my fear of blood, I never needed therapy because of it.

I read The Road, and It's pretty messed up too. Sorry If I'm spoiling some of it, but there's a scene where an infant is getting roasted on a spit. And Heavy Metal is still a great movie, it's actually one of my favorites, but that kid getting shot scene is pretty intense.
