I am just reading through Joe Abercrombies trilogy The First Law (If you hate mainstream fantasy go for it, it is superb) and I'd like to add some interactive layer. Is there somewhere medieval turnbased strategy? And good one? Some campaing with battles like in Total war, but turn based? I loved TB battles in Pirates! and Conquest of the New World. Wesnoth is more guerilla-like and Fantasy Wars just irks me.

Please, is there a game for me?

Well, there is the very old "Fantasy General".Think Panzer General but with fantasy/medieval units.

I really, really liked it back when I played it. Great music, solid gameplay and loads of content.

King's bounty

Heroes of might and magic series: old school turn based really lots of fun
Warhammer: Mark of Chaos: A few years old, clean fun, not 100% turn based but slow paced and focus on unit placement and movement
Kohan: Immortal Sovereign: Not quite turn based but slow pace RTS with emphasis on battle formations and use of generals+troops
Does Crusader Kings work? It's not quite turn based, but if it's like Victoria and Hearts of Iron 2, then it would certainly feel like it.
Fantasy Wars

Here is all the GOG's listed as Strategy, Turn Based, Fantasy

Age of Wonders II : The Wizards Throne
Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic
Disciples 2 Gold
Disciples: Sacred Lands Gold Edition
Fantasy Wars
Heroes Chronicles: All Chapters
Heroes of Might and Magic
Heroes of Might and Magic 2: Gold Edition
Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete Edition
Heroes Of Might And Magic 4 Complete Edition
Lords of Magic: Special Edition
Master of Magic

Colonization maybe? Its a little "newer" than medieval, but...
Master of Magic, heh heh heh...
I don't know how familiar you are with Paradox, but they're bound to have something in their catalogue to your liking. Even if it's not something you originally sought.

Generally I think your best bet is something that is real time, but slow paced and pausable. Technically Total War already fits the bill in this regard anyway. Basically the whole reason I crush enemies the way I do is through constantly pausing and adjusting.
Master of Magic is a good, old, but good turn based title and probably one of the few that does not work toward single superparties that many of the other fantasy turn based games tend to gravitate toward. It's old but its aged rather well if you can see the graphics as a style.

Paradox have a good few turn based strategy games (and proper ones not the turn based with real time battles type). I'd say that are more akin to risk type battles.

However I don't think any of them is fantasy - they are all World War II and similar such games. If you hunt around titles like Hearts of Iron though you might have luck finding a fantasy mod for them.

Otherwise I don't think there are any strong fantasy type turn based games other than Fantasy wars (which irks me as well).

Disciples 3 is very squad based turn based fantasy; Disciples 2 is better for a more varied battle field and freedom of movement, but still leans toward a single superparty in the game (experience is the main problem - to get enough to hit the top levels you have to kill everything on the map pretty much with one party). There is a Disciples 3 expansion in the works to pull it closer to Disciples 2 (eg freedom of movement over the map rather than confined paths).

Hero's series might be what you're after - I'd suggest the 3rd title for the generally best fun - though again its a little bit toward the single superparty on a battlemap situation.

Fire Emblem series on the Gameboy Advanced/DS would be a good turn based fantasy squad based strategy game as well as Final Fantasy Tactics series - if you've the console.

I agree about Master of Magic. Paradox has, as I noted, Crusader Kings, which is a historical medieval game, and they have a spiritual successor to Master of Magic planned.
If you own a PSP, get Tactics Ogre.

There are few strategy/tactics games as great as TO.
That's bad.

I already have(played) all suggestions (Except FG) and it is not what i want. Cause, i would take only those turnbase battles.

Well, i'll try medieval II - TW. It is not turnbased, but those fights look "real".

I hope, that GOG will have FG soon.
