Just got an interview for an IT job at the local cancer treatment place (7 hours after sending the application no less) and the ad for the job says the salary is negotiable but I'm not sure of the regular sort of salary bracket for a job of this type. It's a solo position, one of the doctors has been doing their IT work, so I'd be working without a team and might even be on call. I don't want to come off too greedy since its my first job and all but I also don't want to be underpaid
Can some of you IT employee guys have a look over the job ad and give me a rough estimate of how much the pay should be?

Firstly, I have no clue whatsoever about the wage rates and wage vs. education in Australia. So this may be all wrong.
But I'd rate that job as a lower-end tech position for somebody with relevant education and/or experience. In Norway a job like that would typically be filled with someone with either a specialized high school diploma + some experience, or possibly a person having a general bachelor's in the field of IT. Wages probably starting at around £23.000 / y.
But as the ad states, the salary is negotiable. So; negotiate!
Well, I'm working on the specialized high school diploma, as stonebro called it, and I'm currently in the trainee part of it, so I earn a certain percentage of the real wage per month (which increases every 6 months). Currently I earn 50% of the total salary, the total being 272100 NOK per year (£27015).
The job description is also very similar to what I'm doing.

As stonebro said, I wouldn't know about wages in Australia. If this were a Danish position, I'd expect the salary to lie around AU$80.000 a year, but then Danish salaries are very high, compared to most places. Of course, our taxes a extremely high too, so that evens it out somewhat.
For my ICT job, if I was full time, it would be around 52K p.a, and it's requirements are less than what that advert is asking for. It's risen from 47K p.a in the last 5 years.
My previous IT job was simple database and admin work, that was around 38K p.a
My Co-worker, who's job is similar to the attachment, earns around 63K p.a

notes:
I work in the public education sector for a few regional schools, salary is comparable to what I could get in many small business, and far less that what I could potentially earn in the CBD.
Business size is going to affect this a lot, I had a number of IT interviews, when I was job seeking 2003-2005, that would not even come close to what I earn now, taking into account rising salaries.
I realise this does not exactly answer your question, but I've been out of the loop on what other places are offering, so all I can give you is a comparison :)

Regretfully, IT jobs in Australia have one of the widest salary ranges I've ever seen, so I don't think any of us will be able to give you a straight answer.
I have seen people with similar IT support jobs earn anywhere between $25,000 a year and $70,000, and system administrators higher still. I've also been on interview panels for jobs where we've set no specific salary expectations, and I saw the interviewees ask for everything between $50K and $110K for the same job.
Given that your ad is looking for an IT grad, the company may already have a salary expectation in mind, possibly in the realm of $35-45K.
My recommendation would be to contact one of your old uni lecturers - the most practical one you can think of - or maybe even the career guidance officer, and see if they can offer any suggestions. Salaries in one city/region seem not to differ as wildly as they do across the country, so they may have a finger on the pulse.

If he's the sole IT chap there I'd be expecting more towards £30k+ actually, but I'm a Londoner so that would skew my opinion on salaries.

In the Seattle, WA, USA area that would be between $45k - 70k a year, depending on your experience with the desired skills. Things like Linux experience can be a premium if you know what you're doing.

Aliasalpha: one of the doctors has been doing their IT work,

No clue about wages
....but God help you if you're working under a Dr. who thinks they know IT. Not going to be fun because the person who fouled up the system completely is probably your boss and will probably be giving you "pointers" despite knowing nothing.... Makes it tough to blame the last guy. I used to have to do Dr. payrolls after they jacked them up trying to do their own books. *shudders* never again.
Do they have something like the Vault.com and other salary survey sites for Australia? Might want to check that.
edit: forgot OT
If they have overtime in your country (again I have no clue on labor laws outside US) for a position like this, take it and even if you get lowballed on the salary. Salary would border on meaningless because you'll make scads of money in OT in a Hospital office with one IT person. One of my friends took a job like this in a hospital for below market. Made about twice his salary in OT (and this is pretty consistent, I've done payrolls for co's like this). If there's no OT and below market and you have other options, maybe you should consider them. If you don't have other options, take it.
edit2: I have a great book on salary negotiating. I'll post the title later when I get home. Wetfeet something, I think
