Thought the power of teh internetz I stumbled upon an interesting piece written by the man behind the Xenonauts:

"09/05/2012 at 16:55 Chris England says:

Sadly we’re apparently too expensive for GOG, but we are indeed looking into other alternatives. That being said, it’s already possible to download the game from Desura without using their client and totally DRM free, so even if we can’t find someone else to do it then that is an option."

It's in the comment sections of the preview at http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/05/09/it-started-with-a-kick-a-xenonauts-preview/#comment-page-1

Now, obviously the good folks at GOG know what they're doing - don't see many other options for quality DRM free legacy of ye olden days. However, this comment made me curious - what kind of pricing would be tolerated by the average GOGer when it comes to new releases?

Personally, I would prefer to see a new interface that separates the old games from new releases. Altogether. If it's accessible through a different page, even better - Good New Games? :) . Though for the sake of honesty I'd prefer Potentially Good Games, if that's the same with you XD

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing high priced titles in the NEW releases section. A DRM-free alternative to current publishing methods for even $50+ titles would definitely be welcomed.

Quick anecdote:
I was really disappointed when Paradox Interactive released Crusader Kings 2 without an option to purchase the game in a format that would allow future reinstallations without the need for contacting a remote server that may or may not exist at that point. I still occasionally play a lot of old games - impossible if they required any kind of server-side verification. I definitely will not support the new approach to "sales", so I did not buy it.

If it was on GOG, it'd have been an instant purchase for me.

GOG allows me to download installation files, make a physical backup for future use, AND have the ability to download the installs at any time. Win-win approach for me.

Unfortunately, seems like there is a price limit on what games I can expect to see as new releases.

I was just wondering what others thought about that. Also made me wonder why the price limitation for new titles. Enough to write this down.

While I respect GOG's hands off approach to threads about them. I think that these "debates" about why GOG does and doesn't have a game should be locked. Mostly because GOG is limited in what responses we can get. And their tendency to go up like tinder.
