WBGhiro: Is this thread the public toilet of this forum? Somebody ought to clean it at least, it's starting to reek.
I've been keeping an eye on the thread; as far as these kinds of discussions go, it's been rather well conducted. That said, I've also contacted a few posters via PM and explained to them the error of their ways.

Let's try and keep it civil, lest I be forced to dust off my Mallet of Loving Correction.

Elmofongo: Any man disrespecting women can never be a real man.
avatar
JMich: True, but let me ask you this:
Is opening the door for a woman, or offering to carry your (plural) groceries yourself disrespecting her or not?
And would you let a man do the same for you (ie open the door for you, or carry your groceries)
If I'm walking with someone, regardless of gender, I'll hold the door for them and / or help them with heavy packages. Actually, most anyone in the office does. So I guess we're pretty egalitarian here.

Vitek: While I was at university, I once got sternly scolded by my female schoolmate because I dared to open doors for her and her friend. I never dared to do it again.
Some people are unpleasant. As a general rule, i don't worry about them. ;)
+1 to all involved for derailing the thread to the point where I don't have to watch over it with worry anymore. :P

And will you also join the GOG Blood Bowl League?
Yes.

And no.
I like that you're both from America and this is the conversation you're having.

Piranjade: It doesn't even has to be about fucking for me. It just would be nice to be able to choose a female character to play or not have the female character be bound to some specific class.
Having a choice would be nice.

BlueMooner: That was my point. I simply used fucking as the example since that was the word Keeveek used, but my point is the same. Most people don't get angry at what others have when our own needs are being met. When our needs are not being met however AND we see the needs of others are, sometimes in spades, THEN we get angry.

I have big issues with games frequently restricting us to playing what I call YHMWCM (Young Hetero Middle-class White Christian Males). I want to play women. I want to play Latin. I want to play gay. I want to play old. I want the ability to make my own character, to CHOOSE what I want to play. There's nothing wrong with _A_ game making you play a YHMWCM, but it's damn frustrating when almost every game does that.

I'm a gay man, and out of my entire life I have yet to play a single game where the hero is gay. Not once. Attitudes of people like Straight Male Gamer anger and depress me. Not only do we get shat on in reality, but we get shat on in games as well. Can't we have the steering wheel just once? Can't we get to enjoy living out our fantasies? The view that we can't even have crumbs off the table because hetero males deserve everything is just...
