hey guys, maybe this is not the most appropriate place to ask this but i figured gog'ers always help each other so maybe this will work ;)
When i search for what is actually free on playstation plus i always get mixed answers. When they announced it on E3 all i could here was everything we offer on ps+ is free as long as you have a subscription, so that actually means you are renting that content and you really don't get anything. But know i hear story that some things are keepers. Does anybody know what you own and what you rent? I don't really care about avatars or themes or early acces to demos but i am interested in minis, psp games, ps games and ps classics.
You'll most likely need someone from your region to answer this. The content offered in PS+ differs depending on the region. For example, we get the full Little Big Planet game, ugly looking avatars from Toro games, Wipeout sommat and so forth. No minis, whatever the hell those are.
As to what you keep, I see no mention of it anywhere* and if some of it can be kept, that's probably region specific too.
* Bear in mind though that the font size Sony use in the PSN Japan store is not Standard Def friendly, so it's bloody impossible to read =/

Little games, think a cross between web flash games and indie games. From what I've seen you're not missing much
yes this is what i mean. It's difficult to find what you can keep and a lot is crap. It almost feels like a scam. If it's just a rental system then i can't understand why anybody would buy this...but that's just my opinion and I am a collector.

Here's the info you're looking for:
"Games & Special Offers: As a subscriber, you can expect to get your hands on free monthly PSN games, minis and PS One Classics from the PSN Store. You will be able to download these games during the month they are available until the new selection replaces them.
Once downloaded, the games are yours to keep and play as long as you are a member of PlayStation Plus. If your subscription lapses and then you re-subscribe, the games you have already downloaded will reactivate, so you still have access to them. Additionally, if you delete one of the titles from your PS3, but decide you want to get it back, then you can re-download from the PlayStation Plus section of the PSN Store if the game is still there, or, if the game has expired from the PlayStation Plus section of the PSN Store, you can simply search for it on PS Store and download it again at no extra cost."

This was actually very helpful. Thanks
Np :) what I dont like about plus is that if you already have the free game they dont give you an alternate one.
I think PlayStation Plus would be getting a lot more attention from prospective subscribers if the games were actually yours to keep rather than a conditional membership benefit. This is the same trap OnLive has fallen into.
Whether PS+ is worth it is still to be seen; the service is too young to tell. The awesome addition of Wipeout HD for "free" may just be a one-off thing.
I'd say if you're casual, save your money. If you're "hardcore", and really want to dig into the PSN library, get it.

For the amount they are charging for membership it would not be viable for them to give the content away for free forever. I'm not sure the comparison to onlive really stands up though as the games you buy from the PSN store will be discounted as + members and as far as I understand it you will still have access to them if your membership ends. Onlive appears to charge a subscribsion for the service and them charge pretty much high street prices for the games to play on it which you loose if the subscription ends.
To me this service looks quite interesting but I am put off by the way the content is choosen on a monthly basis (and the fact I don't own a PS3). They could quite easily keep the big names back to ensure people buy them and just make the so so games available for download. Also it would be pretty annoying to go away for a few weeks only to come back to find you've missed the window to download a game you've been waiting for.

Not really. The add ons and discounted games you buy are yours to keep. It just the free games they give the ones that expire with the subscription. You can also just buy them normally with regular psn, unlike onlive where you pay for the service and the games.

If you don't pay, you don't get your "free" games. I still don't see the issue with this. You're not buying Plus and getting something for free. Still seems like a waste of money.

Nothing on PS+ is totally free. It's more "...at no additional cost" kinda thing.
You get to keep all the themes, avatars and some DLC after your subscription ends. All the games (excluding Little Big Planet that you could/can get if you subscribe to 12 month) and some DLC won't work if you don't have a subscription.
if the item has the + symbol on in in the Playstation Store its only available if your a subscriber to PS+
At least for US region nothing, not a single thing is a keeper, it may look like a keeper but it is not. + is purely to get you to give them money on a continual bases ala XBLive. If you want your awesome new theme and free games and QORE then you better stay subscribed, otherwise it all disappears.
If you don't trust me send them an email, PS support has never taken more then 2 days to respond to me. Personally the ONLY thing on + worth a damn is the badass new dynamic theme.
