Navagon: The problem goes beyond that. The over-generosity of the community is causing this entitlement culture to form just as much, if not more, than GOG's own generosity.
It happened before, the contest-makers got fed up with it and paused for a while. After some time things got (relatively) back to normal and contests returned. It's a pattern I guess.

A month after Xmas promo and maybe things calm down again.

Navagon: That's the hope. There are a lot of good people here and the rest just stick around for the feeding frenzy. Once that dies down hopefully they'll move on.
Have a little faith, I'm fairly sure our community is far from being completely lost :)

My way around it was to make contests requiring at least a bit of effort. Was never a fan of swarming caused by simple giveaways ;)

CowboyBebop: Unfortunately, I'm no good at thinking up contests so I will probably just pick people at random to give games to.
You can always make a contest of posting a best idea for contest >.>

Telnet: But how would you decide what the best idea was?
You don't really have to, you can state you'll pick winners randomly from eligible posts. Even thinking up one sentence is too much for most of the 'code-grabbers'.

And that way CowboyBebop will have a nice supply of ideas for future contests to choose from ;)
