Survarium is a free2play MMOFPS game
:(
Misleading title... :|

LCAWC: Misleading title... :|
It is not misleading. They don't have the IP rights and starting a new project. So yes RIP Stalker 2 ;)

gameon: I've still not played stalker 1 (or the expansions). But an mmo instead of single player is a bit underwhelming. Just like the knights of the old republic series turning like that.
Stalker is an unique idea...with hell of a bugs. This MMO is bullshit... Yes they will use the same setting but the atmosphere will be lost.
Or Mechwarrior...
Let's hope they get the rights back soon. Even if they do though they're going to be working on this MMO bollocks for some time to come.

Call of Pripyat, at least, was pretty much bug free for me.

Seeing singleplayer stuff go online like this is something we need to all get used to, sadly.
Because bugs in an MMO are so much easier to avoid ...

Ah hell, the Stalkers were great games and especially CoP got everything right.

Maybe the spirit will life on in an indie or Kickstarter title.

And I want to recommend the book, btw. It's a nice read. (Haven't seen the movie yet)

gameon: didn't patches fix them?
I don't think that there were patches. Not for the English version at least (which came a little later). But like I said, there really isn't anything all that bad in the way of bogs. I can't remember one. SoC, despite being incredible in many ways, did sometimes become impossible to complete because of bugs. And that's before you take into account all the broken side missions.

gameon: Do they all need to be played to understand the story, or are they stand alone?

Also what order are they. Are any of them prequels?

I've been interested in the stalker series, especially because of the "real world" graphical setting. But it would be annoying if it was tough to complete because of bugs.
You can play them in any order, really. Clear Sky is something of a prequel to SoC, but not by much. I wouldn't say you needed to play that one first. If anything it might work better the other way around. Personally I found weapon mods that increase the stopping power to be vital for these two.

Call of Pripyat is easily the best of them. Larger areas. More survival orientated, what with the blowouts. It's not at all connected to the other game, other than the same factions and some of the same characters. I'd say at the very least you owe it to yourself to play this one. It's one of the absolute best FPS out there of any type, or era. I'd say that the Complete mods for all three games should be considered vital.

Pretty much. STALKER Complete or whatever the unofficial mod is called.

It's a shame that 2 will likely never happen. Call of Pripyat is one of the reasons why I never get around to finishing Fallout 3.

To a certain extent.
