Metro09: Well I've yet to buy anything mostly because I already own the stuff that looked appealing and I'm still waiting for the possibility of even cheaper sales/dailies on a few titles. That said anyone with any feedback on these titles: The Maw, Sol Survivor (as opposed to Defense Grid which I already have), Aquaria, Avencast, and Rocket Knight.
Avencast is pretty good, if a little clunky on the controls. Well worth the few pounds sale price.
It's not Diablo, but it's not bad either.
3rd-person look-down in 3/4 view. Steer using W,A,S,D, turn camera view with middle-mouse and drag left/right. Spells can be activated by hot-key or combo direction/mouse clicks. Use Quest Items, not manually, but by "Use" key at the place they're needed - it's not really explained well in-game, but you'll pick it up quick enough.
Been playing a couple hours and am exploring the Crypt in the gardens of the Academy where you start. Lots of mini and side-quests to do. Level 6 so far. Which brings me to :
You get 10 points to spend building your character each level-up. HP, Mana, Soul Magic and Blood Magic, for your stats. Then there's the spell tree that also use these 10 points to buy your spells.
Dialogue is nice, as is the voice acting. Nothing really jars me to want to punch the screen, anyway :P Graphics are colourful and look good, if a little dated. You can save anywhere (so far, anyway), but there's a "bug", I suppose you'd call it - get killed while attacking, and when you reload, you're swinging your staff continuously when you reload and it takes a few tries to get that stopped so you can move around normally.
Other than those little niggles with it, it's enjoyable. Would be nice to get it here on gog, but for the price, can't complain.
