lowyhong: X-COM is on sale for only USD3.74. Tempted to buy it, even though I know GOG will eventually get it into their catalogue. Sigh, dilemmas.

Buy it, sorry, rent it there now, buy it sans DRM on here when it arrives. I bought it for £2 the last sale they had on it. Love "Enemy Unknown" and "Terror From The Deep". Worth £2 of anyone's money twice ^_^

gyokzoli: Anyway, anyone has any thoughts on Numen?

Lone3wolf: Actually, Steam's DRM doesn't work with the DOS X-Com games. When you start the game from steam, it just starts up a batch file, which points to DOSBox. I have played them on a memory stick on a computer at work, so I know it's not directly tied to Steam.

An intriguing post on the Numen steam forum...
I don't know if this is the case for all DOS games on Steam as it's obviously up to each publisher, but those that I have were always the unmodified original DOS game files packaged with a preconfigured DOSBox, just like on GOG. Not all games in the X-COM 5-pack are DOS though.
GTA IV for $/€ 7.49 is not too shabby either.

acare84: Commandos games on Steam are working on Windows 7 64 Bit?

Commandos II says recommends Windows 98/ME - Uh, will the steam client run on that? Won't they get in trouble for selling something that won't run? Probably not, as some games in that package will.

mystral: When will you ever have time to play all of those?

I don't know, but since the game will be mine forever... hahaha
The best part is that my notebook can't play most of it. But I'm buying those for the new PC I'm setting up in a few months.
But hey! I've played about 10, so far!

Falci: Max is not available for us Brazilians. Yes, it sucks.

It sucks a LOT!
How intrusive is the DRM on GTA IV? I've been avoiding it since it has, like, four layers of DRM on it, but for $5 I might reconsider.

Securom isn't too bad, I *think* it's refundable. Social Club thing is optional now, but GFWL is required (along with the Social Club if you want sexy multiplayer time). And of course, Steam.

It is not using Steam DRM. You can launch the game without launching the Steam.

It's still not a very good port from what I hear regardless of drm and you better have a lot of spare bandwidth with its 15gb download size.
Btw., Osmos is a good game, well worth the 1,74€
