It just occurred to me that I got some free games upon signing in.

Not that I'm NOT grateful for the free games, but their quality is a bit low.

Now I know this site needs money to operate, just like all others,
but isn't it a bit like bad advertising ?

My suggestion:

Have people sign up, and let them pay say $5 a month for each month of membership.
For each month they get 5 MP to buy games with..; the MP would substitute for dollars (but no refunds)
That way you can weed out the leechers; if people pay money, they ARE customers..
These MP would be spendable on the normal PAYED products..

When people have signed in they can receive like 1 Promo MP for games in the free category.
(but a lil more quality....you could consider it an advertising budget maybe ?..)

Each month they get one more of those Promo MP's..
They ought not to be spendable on the regular payed products.
(or maybe as a partial payment, like a discount, maybe up to 20% ?)

In every case...it would improve...

Interesting concept...

A few sites have subscriber fees where you can get a discount, collect tokens during your paid month to redeem but I don't think GOG will head in that direction.
All I can say to that is "No, on all accounts. Bad idea for this kind of service."

It makes no sense to have a pay subscription-based service for this just because you don't like the free games you get upon signing-up for GOG. Besides, you can hide them from your Game Shelf if they're really that much of a deterrent from you doing business here.
Yeah... nah...
No. And that's all I have to say about that.
Low quality? Are you being serious?

Also no.
So Ultima is bad now?

No, definitely no. I don't want to have to pay 5$ a month even if there is no game I wanna buy in that month. I don't wanna habe to pay 5$ a month if I'm low on funds.

I also think a main appeal of GOG.com is that they're very cheap, and that world-wide with the same prizes. They would loose a lot of appeal for many people in low-income areas if they implemented this.

No. Just no.

That can be for another service, yours perhaps. But that is not for GOG. As far as the "low-quality" of the games, well that's a matter of opinion. There are other good old freeware titles I would enjoy seeing GOG get, but until then, I'm okay with things are now (other than needing more good old games released. ;)
LOW QUALITY!?!?!?!
TYRIAN?
Beneath a Steel Sky?

Jesus, I must be a crap junky.
And even if they are 'low quality' which they aren't, who complains about free stuff? You must be the guy who went on The Price is Right, won a Jeep Cherokee and then complained it wasn't the right color.

I also like the fact that a guy who just signed up, I'm guessing today, is telling GOG what it needs to do to improve.

well... you are a crap junky, but on thsi occasion, i also say no!
lol your idea sound like putting drm on drm free site
Should've signed up a couple years ago, then the free games wouldn't have been automatically added to your account.
If it were a MMO I'd say fine. If it were a f2p game I'd ask what advantage I got by subscribing. For a site like gog? BAD IDEA. You don't wanna block a site behind a paywall
I don't understand your concept.

$10 subscription per month for unlimited access to all games, on the other hand, would be a good move.
