If you're one of those people who went digital because boxed copies no longer had good packaging and manuals anyway I urge you to check out the Super Meat Boy retail box. It comes with a super lovely 40 page manual that has comics, developer commentary and a sketchbook, as well as some funny as hell stories and game descriptions. The outer slip-cover is nice too, and the disc has a bunch of extras on it.

It's probably the nicest box I have gotten in the mail since GTA4 a few years ago.
Yep, liking my copy a lot. Great little booklet.
Nobody in canada is selling yet. Jerks.
Does the retail version require Steam too?

It does actually, which I thought was odd but I guess they want you to have access to Super Meat World.

There is a DRM-free version on Direct2Drive, which is how I originally got the game actually.

How does Direct2Drive work?

For DRM-free titles the same as GOG... your account has a list of games you can download any time and they're just exe files you install, no hassles. Super Meat Boy is one of these DRM-free games on there, the downside is you don't have access to the "Super Meat World" online level sharing system.

Ah, okay. Thanks.

I'll have to see if I can find a demo somewhere for it, I've heard of it but never played it.
Can someone scan and upload this manual? I can't buy SMB retail box in Poland! :( Thanks!

There is no demo for Super Meat Boy, but you can try full version of Meat Boy for free!

The full version is a hell of a lot better and more fun than the original, but yeah.
I don't know if anyone is still reading this, but Super Meat Boy through Steam actually IS DRM-free. If you copy the installed folder to any other computer or drive, it'll work without requiring Steam to be installed. I recently tried this on a machine that had never once had Steam installed on it before, and it ran perfectly fine.

I love Indie developers.
There's an XBLA demo of SMB, but yeah I haven't heard of a PC demo.

And I've heard that you can run the retail version of the game without installing steam by running the executable on the disc, but I wouldn't know since I got it on steam.

Well shit. That's really cool. Gonna try and make my SMB DRM-free later, thanks for the tip bro!
I know it's awesome, and I (unfortunately, accidentally spoiled the fact that I'm getting it this Christmas, and I had no intent of spoiling anything D:) know I'm getting it for Christmas, since I haven't gotten such a meaty masterpiece yet. I certainly know where that epic meaty art poster is going, and that's right above my computer.
