Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure Pre-Order Giveaway

Because the weekend is upon us and I am still waiting for the next Insomnia Sale, (BTW, I encourage those who enjoyed last year's sale to vote here) I have decided to host this giveaway instead. I can already hear the groans "What, another giveaway?"

I have a big fondness for adventure games. And because I have a big heart for gaming in general, for those that have another interest other than an adventure title, the winner has the option of choosing any GOG title worth no more than Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure ($17.99) instead of receiving the titled giveaway. This means you can opt for 3 @ 5.99 or 1 @ 9.99 and 1 @ 5.99, etc.

EDIT: Games can be chosen at the conclusion of the giveaway.

EDIT: I will now hold two separate drawings! One drawing for Tex Murphy, the other for those wanting the other GOG titles.

RULES FOR THIS GIVEAWAY:
-Giveaway open to all users with any rep (+ or -)
-Users must have an avatar for their entry to be valid
-Only one entry per person
-You can enter for someone else if you wish
-Out of courtesy, the winners will redeem these games personally and enjoy them. (However, should you already own all Tex Murphy GOG titles, you're free to distribute the one classic TM game that is included with the pre-order)

TO ENTER:
-Tell me that you're "in"
-Choose either Tex Murphy TE or any other game(s) that qualify for this giveaway
-Lastly, please tell me one of your most memorable game experiences. I'll start this one off:

The game was Microprose's B-17 Flying Fortress 1992 and I was returning home from a successful bombing run. My bomber received extensive damage from flak and area fighters. I had already lost an engine, leaking fuel, another engine leaking oil and my landing gear wouldn't deploy. We eventually lost cabin pressure so I was forced to reduce altitude and continue the journey home alone. I was crossing the English Channel and I had lost another engine. Losing altitude, I continued limping along. Knowing I would eventually have to bail out, I tended to the injured crew so everyone had chance to get out. During the span of an hour, I could see the coast line slowly approaching. We eventually made it over the coast, gave the order to bail out, and all crew member survived to continue the campaign. I was completely immersed in the simulation that it felt like quite the accomplishment. It also made me reflect on the brave men who flew in these tubes during the war. I hope GOG brings this title to their catalog.

EDIT: GIVEAWAY ENTRY CUTOFF WILL BE 11:59PM PDT FRIDAY, APRIL 18
Winners will be notified SATURDAY, APRIL 19

Best of luck,

foxworks

Thanks, I'm in for Tesla Effect.

One of my best gaming experience is Fez, astonishing game. I like exploring and solving puzzle, and Fez is all about those two things.

Being quite a big Tex Murphy fan I'd love to be in for the Tesla Effect.

Choosing one gaming moment is always hard but for this one I think I'll go for the first time I played Syndicate which was also the first time I'd ever played anything with a Soundblaster.
I remember using the flamethrower on people and them running around screaming while on fire until only the skeleton remained. It probably seems silly after playing 'modern' games, but that really stuck with me.

It was insane right?
Before that you pretty much only had bleeps and bloops (and the awesome PC speaker speech screech like in "Bahbahian"). Even thing like Dr. Sbaitso and such blew my mind back then.
In for Tesla Effect. Thanks +1.
Memory: Doing an 8-hour iron-man speed-run through Vagrant Story, without saving, without employing magic, using only swords (plus a host of other restrictions). Didn't eat or drink or get up from the couch throughout (except, I assume, to go to the bathroom). Those were the days...

P.S. Have all the other Tex Murphy games, so will gift the classic bonus if I win.

Dr. Sbaitso, now that's a program I had long forgotten about. Having speech and sound effects in games was like having a color TV! haha
Thanks for your continued generosity, foxworks. I must say this one is a hell of a giveaway! :)

Please, count me in for another one of our most generous givers, K_1269.

(Hope it's OK to enter on his behalf though he hasn't entered for himself... yet?)

About your request, have you fallen in love with a game just at the start, knowing without any doubt you're going to enjoy it to the full and you'll remember it forever? Well, that's what I felt when I begin playing Loom, one of the good old point and click adventures of the classic Lucasfilm. And I was right. The game was so full of charm, of magic, I'm still moved by memories so many years after. :)

Works for me!
I am in, thanks for the giveaway.

I've never played the Tex Murphy games, they're an unknown entity to me, so I am going to pick the option of 3 $5.99 games!

My most memorable experiences to date are from Expeditions Conquistador- lots of intense situations in that game; the story is told in a minimalistic way, but what happens can really impact you. For example, depending on how you play, there can be a situation where a young lady from your expedition switches side in the final story battle to aid her father, whom you may have betrayed. Well, it's not something the game itself makes a big deal of, but if you think about it, it messes with your head.
In for Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure,so much thanks for the opportunity.

There are so many, because every new console/computer brought new memories.
But i had pretty good memories playing point and click adventures in general back in the nineties when they were still good and populair. Spend many many after school hours playing them, and played almost any adventure from back then.
The Tex Murphy games were also part of that, even fantasized of becoming a p.i myself but in this country there is no real job in it.

foxworks: Works for me!
Thank you, foxworks! :)
Ok, I'll bite, this giveaway is just too tempting! In for the grand prize: Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure :)

As for a memory, the most recent one that comes to mind is when I started the The Walking Dead. Wasn't really expecting all that much and usually don't like games with those mechanics, but the story and characters just really draw me in. I even shed some tears before the game was over, something that never happened to me before when playing a game.

Thank you very much for this generous giveaway and your continued generosity Foxworks! +1
Count me in for Tesla Effect for lugum.

As for my story, I am a huge Tex Murphy fan and adventure games in general. When I was growing up I was very, very sick and often spent much time at home and in hospital. As a consequence of that I had difficulty making friends due to being used to being all by myself a lot. Since I spent a lot of time at home my folks would occasionally snag me a game, since I loved to read and I loved adventure they bought me games such as Lucas Arts adventure games and Tex Murphy.

I would spend hours sitting and trying to figure out puzzles and making the story progress and it would always make me forget how ill I was for a little while. It would always make me so excited to go on adventures with the characters of the game and being so excited when I solved something all by myself (since I never bought hint guides for the most part). I remember how much love an joy those games brought me, and I do my best (even to this day) to promote such games to others who might not otherwise know of these wonderful gems.

I think Tex Murphy particularly rung strong with me because like me he was clumsy and awkward, but he always tried to do his best to do the right thing no matter how hard it was. It was so nice to see someone I could relate to succeed and win the day regardless of the obstacles in his way. It always gave me the courage to never give up and keep trying no matter how many times i fell flat on my face, and to always strive to do what's right. I know it's kind of sappy to admit, but the character helped me through some tough times and I will forever be grateful to Chris Jones for his wonderful portrayal of Tex. As well as to the other team members who created such wonderful and creative games which will always hold a place in my heart. :)
Thanks for the giveaway, I'm in.

I guess since I don't have any Tex Murphy games I'm in for the original titles.
