KingofGnG: Heh, these are the reasons why I joyfully shit every day on the mobile gaming crap. The industry is fucking itself up, with its own hands and can't even understand what is losing in its effort to monetize every fucking bit downloaded on the iToys....
10 years by now, there will be no "2011 tetris" game to monetize on because cloned and dumb iMorons will have no reason and no proper gaming memory to honor over...
There's a very obvious theme going on at the moment. The mobile gaming market really is pretty bad to observe. Let's see:
- most games are paper thin in depth and extremely casual. The few games with some depth that you can find are usually much too short, too.
- they price their games for free and then make you buy unlocks, making the final game cost more than much superior regular games OR the games are worth a few dollars.
Basically, the value of such games is pretty low because of how the market has evolved. Cheap games shifted millions which attracted bigger players meaning more competition, in turn meaning even lower prices. This, in turn, leads to very lazy design and going for volume instead of quality, leading to pretty games but with sloppy gameplay.
In short, it's getting ugly. Android has a lot of nice looking games now, but few are really worth playing because they're just poorly though out. I've yet to find a clever game that makes good use of the touch screen and doesn't feel like a 5 year old made it in an afternoon.
