Trailer has been released and I didn't see a thread about it. I'm rather excited now as both Thor and Captain America were good, Captain America especially so. Also looks like Joss Whedon's writing is just what Robert Downey Jnr needs.
i am so very much looking forward to this
I'm so excited. I'm so excited I can't possibly express my feelings in writing.

Thor was good?

Overall yes it was good. It had problems I will be the first to admit but as a super hero movie it was good and much better than Iron Man 2.

So Robert Downey Jnr is going to be Iron Man? I thought that at the end of 2 they ruled that out?

I found it to be rather dull and uninteresting, I'm more excited because this may become another X-Men: First Class, and I'm a Firefly fanboy.

Who isn't a firefly fan? There are 2 classes, those who've seen all 14 episodes, and those who haven't.

And Serenity.

I'm not sure where that rumor came from as Downey Jnr signed up to be in The Avengers movie before they started filming Iron Man as did Chris Helmsworth, Sam Jackson and Chris Evans. It was actually a part of all the movie contracts because The Avengers movie was always the ultimate goal. The only one who didn't sign one of these pre-contracts was Ed Norton which is why he isn't back as Bruce Banner.

There were a lot of slow parts to Thor but what they did was lay the ground work for the future movies. They didn't have to explain the Cosmic Cube in Captain America because we already saw it in Thor. Similarly we won't need any lenghty introduction to Loki and the Asgard mythos in The Avengers because they already did that in Thor. It harmed the Thor movie a little but you could say that movie took one for the team.

I was actually deriving the situation from the end of Iron Man 2, where they stated that the Iron man project would continue, but would not involve Tony stark.

That will follow in to Iron Man 3. And yes that's still in production. It's not certain where in the timeline of the Iron Man movies The Avengers movie takes place.

Iron Man 3, what will he fight next, more nondescript robots from HAMMER?

That's a bit of a production cockup, given how carefully they've scheduled this to do the whole avengers thing. Though wasn't Captin America a later addtion?

I really hope they do better with Iron Man 3. I think for the third movie it has to be someone better than Justin Hammer and Backlash. Ant-Man is also in production so it can't be someone like Ultron and he's an Avengers villain anyway so really that leaves Mandarin.
