They seem to be taking reality to a new level with this version of theme park, the rides are a fucking ripoff!

I'd love to say this comes as some sort of surprise but I suppose its not a facebook game so it could be worse... Just not much worse
low rated
Only on iPhone? Disappointing.

Giving them the benefit of doubt... are you sure you don't have to buy a bunch of rides before that specific roller-coaster becomes available for purchase at all, meaning it could very well be $5 per ride, only you have to buy 11 of them before the Skull-Train can be bought - ie. a total of $60 to get that one.
Eh... what? $60 to buy a single ride in the game?! I find this somewhat difficult to believe. I mean, this goes way beyond simple greed. From the publisher's perspective there is an ideal price point for these in-game items, namely the one that maximizes their profits. And this is obviously not it. Ordinary people simply cannot pay such prices, it's mathematically impossible. Money doesn't just appear in the customers' pockets out of thin air when you charge higher prices, it has to come from somewhere...

Given the target audience (Iphone owners), yes, yes it does. Or at least seem to.
Even if the majority of rides come cheaper, that's still an insane pricing level. I suspect they've done their analysis, and found that the majority of people that buy these sorts of things, are people that buy all the extra content for "The Sims". No matter how cheap they make the add ons, I'm not going to buy one, and nor will most consumers, so they've gone for the customers that don't have any concept of value for money, and are instead obsessed with having "things" (ok, I'll take the risk and say it... Housewives). These people are limited in both number and intelligence, so they need to maximise revenue from this base, at the cost of all other customer bases. Hence the absurd price.

It's probably very good business sense, and comes from some quite careful and for once useful marketting study. Shame for gamers though.

I don't think most iPhone owners can afford phone games that cost several hundred dollars. Even the "I Am Rich" app was only $999.99.

This is the part that I find so hard to believe. But who knows, maybe this is actually the case.
It's EA. I mean seriously, what's the point in expecting anything more than quick, lazy cash grabs, TOS that fuck people over as much as possible and unimaginative clones of other company's successful games? Sure, other things do happen at EA, but not to any kind of degree where you can realistically expect it from them.

At least with them on GOG we can remember the good old days.
Maybe EA should first make sure their phone games are FUN. All their Android releases have been mediocre at best - cheap cash ins that only achieve a tiny sliver of their full potential.

And raping such a beautiful classic like that ... unforgivable.

Only because that was the highest price an application could cost (or can, I don't know if they've raised the limit, I doubt it though). I bet you it'd cost 9999.99 if possible.

Also, it was kind of a joke.

The punch line being it sold at least 8 copies.

They could have made some DLC for "I Am Rich" to raise the price even further.

If it still existed. But IAPs were not yet allowed back in those days.
