The graphic style is good as expected.
The combat is different, but it looks interesting.

That looks so awesome. I love the set-up, it gives a much better reason to have the narrator, and it puts more of a stake in it. And they brought back Logan Cunningham! He's got a great voice.
bastion has been available drm free for a while in various bundles.got to wonder why gog doesnt have it.and yes Transistor looks awesome so far :)
I'll be honest, I'd hoped for something a bit more novel. I was never quite a fan of Bastion's visual style and its integration into gameplay. It felt like playing a Flash game. Still, good game. Hopefully they'll try something similar to the narrator again.
EDIT:whoops, I'm an idiot

Yeah, I'm a bit concerned about that as well. From what I've seen, the art style is reminiscent of Bastion, but the whole "young girl wielding a sword bigger than herself" thing grates on my nerves, I must admit. I do hope they don't go completely Japanese on us. I don't think I could stomach that. (Disclaimer: I have nothing against Japanese people.)
I won't be too concerned about that though. Artwork and actual in-game graphics can be so different at times.
Even Bastion had some hints of an anime / manga-ish style, just look at the big eyes and the colourful setting and the overall character design. Yet still I'd never connected the game with a Japanese RPG or such.

TL;DR: Don't get put off just by the graphic design. My experience with Bastion as a whole piece had been incredible and I have no doubts that Transistor is going to follow a similar path :D
Had a chance to talk to Greg Kasavin about the game.
