carnival73: Is an LE stronger than a GT?
I think LE stands for "Light Edition" or something like that, so I guess it's a quite weak graphics card even for the time of its release; not really fit for a modern gamer PC, just basic stuff (good enough for most GOGs though)

Dragobr: I used to be less criterious, but with the backlog I've built, even the slightest doubt is enough for me to skip a game now.
I'm in the same boat with huge backlog so I try to add selectively to my unplayed list. That said, I sometimes buy some high profile games even if I have reservations about them (such as Oblivion that I recently bought for $5), I will make do with reviews and gameplay videos if I can't play a demo (for example for Wii games), and I still buy Humble Bundles mostly blindly.
The days when I could blindly purchase a game based on a neat box and interesting concept for $10 and be thoroughly satisfied are long gone. I don't think it's me that's changed, either - it's the games. PS2 was the king of blind purchase gaming because even its shovelware was better than a lot of the triple A titles being pushed out nowadays.
Judging from all the opinions so far, GOG should take this into account. They stopped doing videos for some of their releases because, well, it was time consuming, but so many of their titles are so old only some of their market base has played them.

I've always felt reviews here are tainted with nostalgia and some fanboyism unless the game is really bad, and some old games don't have that many videos out there. Video reviews from testers before selling the GOG could really help make a sale.

And you expect official reviews from GOG to be more critical than those of their customers? :D

Of course not all reviews are helpful but most of the time you can get a good idea by reading and comparing several here, on mobygames and other sites with reviews that you can google. And I suspect it's only a minority of GOGs that you can't find a gameplay video for, on youtube or somewhere else.

I feel the greater issue is the lack of PC demos for certain games from a technical point of view. You can inform yourself about what kind of game a given title is and how the chances are that you'll like it or not, but you can never be 100% sure whether it will run on your system at all (info on system requirements is often not enough in my experience, and not always easy to read and compare - even worse when the game contains DRM).

I tend to trust developers, like I trust directors when it comes to movies (or show-runners with TV shows). Sometimes that can burn you, like Ridley Scott's last decade of work or Dragon Age 2, but for the most part it's a fairly reliable system.

Past that, if a game is right in my wheelhouse, like a cyberpunk RPG or a massive open world game, then I will usually be more up for a risky blind purchase than normal. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing... EYE: Divine Cybermancy, for example, was a time I got screwed.

carnival73: I got it run on a
AMD 2400+ Single Core
1 Gig RAM
nVidia GeoForce 7300GT 512 MB
Win XP SP3 32 bit

You're going to have to play around with a video option because one of the options that seems like you should be able to use makes the textures too rich and thick and the game will slow down to a crawl.
Thanks for that information, so now it maybe will work on my old desktop. I decided I will get it wether it will work or not. I already spent too much time for research and I know myself that at the last day of sale I will nevertheless buy it.
