been as we're on the subject, just finished my PVR system which is pretty cool.
XP and GBPVR (<<<check it out if u want a free media interface, its one of the best for windows by far)

done away with the remote i had in favour of this beauty:

I made the case from scratch, as i didnt want it to look like a computer.
its a small wooden case, similar in size to a dvd player, painted matt black with 2mm extension mesh for ventilation, with a bevelled, black glass like acrylic face plate. its pretty inoffencive and minimalistic with a button to open the dvd draw and a Purple LED ringed power button so when its on, the face glows like a shadowy violet colour. its looking pretty suave :D
quiet little machine, does the job nicely...

Monitor: 13 inch colour tv.
Disk drive: 150k double sided floppy
CPU: Motorola 6809E 0.89MHz/1.8MHz
Graphics: GIME chip - max 640x192 - 2 colours. Base palette of 64 colours.
Keyboard: Built in.
Mouse: Don't make me laugh.
Joystick: Basic 5 pin DIN joystick with NO spring back.
I miss my Colour Computer 3 :( Times were much simpler then. Mind you, so was I.
My real computer is black and shiny.

Sorry if specs are little hazy; I forget the exacts.
Motherboard: Gigabyte of some kind - its definately got some silver bits and slots and things though.
Processor: AMD 64 X2 5000+ I think.
RAM: 2GB of some kind of gamer RAM that has a big nVidia sticker on it.
Graphics: ATi Radeon HD3850 (512MB).
Sound: Onboard 5.1, hooked up to a Logitech X-530 5.1 system.
HDD: 1x 500GB Samsung SATA, 1x 60GB Seagate IDE.
OS: Windows XP Professional N SP3 on the Samsung, 64Studio Linux v2.1 on the Seagate.
Optical: Unbranded Lightscribe DVD+/-RW + DVD-RAM.
Case: Dunno the make but its got a panel in the side with glowy lights and a huge intake fan at the front that makes it look like a jet plane.
Monitor: 24" Widescreen BlueH with HDMI input (I use it for my PS3 as well).
Keyboard: Apple Pro Keyboard (I just love these keyboards!).
Mouse: Some 50p optical from eBuyer.

lukaszthegreat: I'd guess the space #'s are partly due to the price of drives vs size, though yah 750gig is a bit much - probably means a newsgroup person (wink wink). I've got around a terabyte on my game machine as well and I don't know how much on my five servers. I use my game machine for vidoe processing too. I've got over a terabyte on my work machine - easy to do when the avg drives are 500gig.
Past that, the Raid 0 and Raid 5 is something I was considering - raid 0 is a nice fast unsecure setup, the Raid5 gets you raid 0 speed with mirrors. There are still issues under Raid 5 with doulbe drive failure, ESPECIALLY if all 4 drives are the same make/mfg and bought at the same time. Practially guarantees they are the same batch so hope there's no mfg defect. Something to consider when you are building mirrors - a double drive failure loses everything. There are better raid combos than 5 that can handle a double failure, but those aren't mainstream yet (i..e the addon cards still cost too much)

A year ago, I had a RAID 5 setup similar to my current one but smaller. One of the drives died which I thought was not a problem, I could just go out and get a new one. Anyway, I did that and as I was replacing the drive, I though I would re-order the disks to better free up room in my case. I was swapping one of the still working drives around when I dropped it on the floor. Long story short, the drive was dead and I had now lost two drives out of the array. For anyone who doesn't know RAID 5, that means I lost it all.
Moral of the story is: If you loose a drive, make it a priority to get a new drive and repair the array.

I'll be playing some of these GOG games on the go on my netbook and the more demanding ones on my main desktop.
I see lots of gamers here flaunting their RAID and SLI/Crossfire setups. Not sure what you guys need that much power for (especially SLI/Crossfire). The electrical bill must be a doozie. ;)
