please im going insane, the tutorial wanted me to throw bombs, i clicked mousewheel, nothing happend.
stuck for an hour, restarted that shit, no ingame i had to fight fukkn griffin without crossbow bc its not working but i dont wanna play anymore now bc without all functions it just SUCKS

what do i do wrong? i dont have bombs right now, but the crossbow and bolts, its equipped and everythign but nothing ever happens when i try.. do i have to be infight? PLEASE ANYONE

In the tutorial you hold down the middle wheel and place the red bullseye on the target. let go and the bomb flies.

I will take sometime to craft your first bombs as you need to find the ingredients. But the crossbow works the same way. Hold, target then release. The game slows down for you when holding down the middle button.

How do you choose to fire crossbow instead of bomb?

I changed my key-bindings, so as a middle mouse button I have a heavy attack now... which control is the one responsible for shooting crossbow? There's nothing in the game settings.

It can be a bit confusing. You have to choose at the bottom of your wheel (TAB) - for example, you can choose either your crossbow or your torch (if you have that in your pocket). Then, using middle-mouse, you will fire whichever you chose.

Yep. works fine.
Choose it in the wheel, then just use as any other on-hand item.

And as someone mentioned bombs - after using them all you cannot craft a new bomb like in the Witcher 2. You need to go into meditation, even for half an hour, and bombs will be refueled/recharged/whatever back to maximum for free.

You craft bombs only once - initially - to create a slot, after that just meditate and you'll get new for free.

Pretty sure it's not free.. at least that's how I understand it.. you need to have the alcohol in your inventory for it to refill, right?

From what I see you certainly don't need the ingredients described on the alchemy page, as I don't have them and yet get all my bombs recharged back to maximum after meditating.

Yeh, definitely not needing the ingredients, just the alcohol in your inventory.. that's what I've read elsewhere at least.

I'm sorry could someone please elaborate. I'm at the tutorial fight the old guy and I have to select bombs. I press tab, then I highlight bombs, but which button is select? I know it sounds daft, but I've pressed "e" a thousand times, and every other button. All PC buttons are set to default and I'm still stuck. Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: Okay, sorry, apparently the bomb IS selected. Which means the only thing it could be is that the middle button is not recognised. Is this a thing?

Edit again: Fixed! Change the key binding "Use Quick Access Binding" to something else (I used caps lock). And that's it. Who ever said walking away and having a beer solved nothing.

I had this same problem when I first started playing and in my case it was due to the game's crossbow slot having the image of a crossbow there already that looks the same shade as anything else you're carrying giving me the impression that I actually owned a crossbow and had it primed for use. Sadly, I did not have a crossbow and the default graphic there gave me the false impression I did have one. Only when Visimir gave me a crossbow did I actually have one and I think I had to go in and place it on Geralt before I could use it.

I also didn't realize that I had to hit TAB and move the mouse to select the crossbow or bombs first before use. That user interface is the most sucktastic one ever, obviously it was 200% made for game console players that use gamepads and not made for keyboard+mouse players. So non-intuitive unless you're a console-head that it isn't funny. :)

Anyhow I figured it out and got used to it after a while but I still don't like it. I'd much rather assign selection to individual keys and not some weirdo gamepad interface adapted to mouse+keyboard.

For bombs, you have to make them first, then put them in the bomb slots, then select them with the annoying TAB+mouse thing.
