I don't want to be connected all the time. I need full concentration and internet ruins it for me. I want it just like old times. But I still want my hours counted hehe
Game time recording should also be possible without the Internet, just like the consoles.
Would love this, idk what it is and ik it really doesn't matter being able to see how much time I've spent on a game but its just a neat small feature. Had these issues with steam offline so I hope this gets implemented
Implement this and you have one up on Steam.
They have it already, technically, but it never works. Plenty of games on my profile there have a completion achievement that I made sure to be online for, but something like three hours of game time listed for a 100+ hour game.
Please allow game tracking offline, it's a draw back on Galaxy side and i really want Galaxy to be the best client for me. Lack of game tracking is the feature I hate on PS4 too. Please don't do it on Galaxy too
i lost 3 hours of game tracking
That's awesome! It's so annoying when you're internet doesn't work and all your game time is not tracked (like in steam).
Big yes from me! But yeah it should be optional in case some people don't want it
This would be a perfect addition to Galaxy and, in my opinion, would make it the perfect distribution platform out there!
This should be optional
I agree!
I don't like game time tracking. It's useless to me. Maybe we can close it.
YES, YES, YES, please!! Playing with my GPD Win 2 everyday for commuting and would love to keep track of my playtime while offline. Making it optional for people who doesn't want it could be a good idea. Since it's "in progress" I hope it gets implemented on the next update :D
Although a useful function, I'd prefer gametime tracking to be optional first.
I'm glad this in progress. It's really annoying when a game tells you it was played 0h, when you put hours into it in offline mode. I had that experience with Steam and that was pretty disappointing. Thanks for bringing it to Galaxy.
What I'd like to have is an option if I want to force gog galaxy be open when playing games > time tracking. The same way steam does. I know not everybody likes it, but I do :) I like having games on my desktop and start them from there. I don't like the UI in galaxy.
Also add the button to sort library based on the playtime. Include both the installed and uninstalled games.
that would be grate future for my crappy internet
+, really would be great
Glad to hear this is coming (with an option to disable it). I miss the convenient way of seeing which games I've put the most hours into.
i wouldnt be very keen on such feature, especially because of the tech method it implies.
if i want background process that monitor my activity, i can get a spyware or stuff like that, thank you
While I love time tracking I do think an option to disable it would be welcome, as anything that has to do with data collection, or even just data tracking that isn't necessarily uploaded to GOG, should be controlled by the end users.
If they also make a feature that displays a video of the pope or the user's grandmother to pop up on every p__n site, then I'm on board. Why limit guilt for having a good time to video games?
You guys who don't want it probably don't have to worry. Game Time Tracking is already in the settings scheduled to be optional, this is most likely going to be an extension to that very feature, i.e. easy to turn off for those of you who don't want it :)
I really want to be able to remove or disable this. It's the #1 reason I don't use Steam and to have it here is a huge bummer.
Yes, please implement this feature.
I would love to get this feature.
No,
I want clean, crisp, drm free games.
Nothing else.
No. No need for this
I dislike usage tracking because I get ridiculous usage times if I'm called away from the computer for an extended time, having not closed the game, e.g. Steam. It makes more sense to me to keep a log. If one can remember to save and exit a game, one can remember to make a log entry.
just read the other comments > at the bottom, what saluk and juliet bravo 3 were disscussing > it should store and sync when available
Yes, it seems a little silly its not already implimented
Yes please!
They should just store the data captured by the 'Galaxy Communication' application locally if there is no connection. Once there is a connection at login or closing a game, try to push the stored data and any new data collected.
They have hinted at this feature being included, or at least sort of included.

There is a tracking already. Every time you start up a game (without running GOG Galaxy before!), there is a single exe, that will run in the bg while you play that game. It's called sth like "Galaxy Communication.exe".
Guys, this already working for me.
organ169, GCSteps - AFAIK the feature isn't implemented yet, even online. So no matter whether you're playing online or offline, no time is tracked.
You have to be online to do this?
In that case, voted!
I agree. By the way, my Witcher 3 is on zero hours. I put in over 200 hours to complete it. Well.
Knowing that this game time tracking feature is still in development, let's hope that GOG does consider this wish while they're in it.
Game Time is coming, based on its toggleability already being in the settings. But do you guys know whether the plans include it working when offline?
Please add this. I just played Witcher 3 offline, since my connection is annoyingly unstable, and apparently: Galaxy didn't count although was running. At least I know now, to keep the connection..
Exactly. A constant local save in an "offline mode" and an automatic sync when connected to the server to update game times, achievements and other Galaxy related stats; including all the late and great updates as stated by saluk. (make it better yet by allowing all these features to be optional for gamers who are off put by achievements and game time tracking)
Yes. The model Galaxy seems to use currently is a dumb client that gets most of its info from the server - which makes these kinds of features more difficult. It would be great if it used a "keep all information local, but sync with server when possible" model. When you are offline, all you miss is the latest and greatest updates from the server.
