Proton for GOG Galaxy on Linux

Secara It would be nice to have a proton integration at the release of the Linux version of GOG Galaxy because until now there is no other alternative for the use of Proton except for Steam.
xman1 One more comment. GOG Galaxy is one of the built in Sources to Lutris. You just flick a switch, and now you have GOG Galaxy running with full Proton support. Glorious Eggroll is also built exlusively in a Lutris version by Thomas Cider. You just need to click the lutris button to automatically download it as a runner and it will also automatically download GE updates for it too.
The point is... You do not need a GOG Galaxy on Linux as you already have a pretty slick solution.
xman1 Why? Lutris pulls in Steam Proton for use in Lutris, You can also copy Steam Proton to ~/.local/lutris/runners and use it without Steam being installed at that point. No reason to buy Steam for the use of Proton.
temps There are a lot of Windows-only games I buy on Steam instead of GOG because of Steam Proton for Linux.
minifig404 The actual core of this is a seamless way to run Windows games on Linux. Valve has their solution they call Proton. There's also Lutris, the community-powered solution. So long as there's a way to do it without setup or hassle, and it works surprisingly well out of the box, a lot of folks won't care what it is or how it works. They just want to play their games.
So let them play their games.

dukemax Thought of buying a Windows only game here, but then remembered that on steam with proton in most cases it's buy and play directly on linux
iKarith My understanding is that Valve's sharing their Proton code with wine developers. GOG already uses DOSbox for its vintage PC titles, so I hope that GOG will take a page from Steam and include a WINE setup. So many games just work now with the right config.

Pesebrero Proton is somewhat a "trademarked" Wine build for Steam. Even if GOG could use its code, probably it should do it under another name. But it's all about integrating Wine (and maybe DOSBox) in the client.
