rhetoricmonkey I love gog more than I do any other distributor, but I use them the least because of those stupid virtual things called achievements. If there were a way for certain games to support achievements and some community features similar to Steam, I'd likely never shop for another D.R.M. game. Or if I did it would be because developers offer something that is more like a management system for my licenses than a probation system for criminals.
Enough ranting, I'm not super crazy about achievements, but I seek them none the less. It's annoying the way they exploit my desire to be reinforced by such a trivial thing.
I'd like to have the ability to see a little popup that says "Taster" in The Witcher 2 and the ability to show it off to my friends or I'd like the ability to join a match in progress or show that I am looking for a match.
I'm an old school gamer that has been corrupted by some contemporary features, I socialized with Roger Wilco and replaced it with Ventrilo. But I still enjoy the ease of use of other gaming services. How easy would it be to implement an open source or similarly open licensing client that houses similar social features of other closed client systems?
My main wish is to see achievements even though I think they're kind of retarded.
aitrumak @KnightW0lf - Achievements are probably not more cheat-proof if moved to a system like GOG or Steam; you are relying on obfuscation either way, since the game is still the one generating the achievement.
Bulo Please let us collect those achievements, something like steam client
KnightW0lf I like achievements but I'm not close to being a achievement hunter level, I do like to collect all for my favorite games and most on games I play saadly achievements can be a abused gog unless they have to use gog galaxy because then you can just change the game files
DanyKing You admit that achievements are bullshit. Why would GOG give a shit? Achievements are fine if they are a fixed part of a game, but not as a general feature provided by a client like Steam, etc. Introducing such things requires a big effort, has almost no benefits, and unnecessarily couples games to GOG or 3rd party servers which is eventually the same as DRM. KEEP IT OUT!
