The original is still the best, especially against a friend. I didn't realize until much later that the color of the square you were on affected that character's health and strength, so I learned to play regardless of the advantage/disadvantage the square gave me, which I think helped my skill in the long run. It was also one of the first games with dynamic AI in the 1-player game. Each time you won an arena battle, the computer played a little better. Each time you lost, it played a little worse. It was fun to deliberately lose about 7-10 fights in a row and then challenge the sorceress with your lowly knight and win.
I did not have a pc growing up in the 80's, but I had a friend who did. I can remember SO MANY nights spent over at his house playing this against him, and while I imagine the gameplay is a bit outdated (and unbalanced!) nowadays this would be awesome to play against my kids (well, maybe grandkids).

Despite featuring an offline mode, Monster Hunter was primarily an online game. The official servers were shut down on December 31, 2007 in North America and Europe, and July 1, 2011 in Japan. Chronicle: RuneScape LegendsChronicle: RuneScape Legends was a turn-based strategy card game by Jagex Games Studio set in the universe of the MMORPG RuneScape.
The game has a unique format and setting. From inside a magical book, players use their deck of cards to create a quest for their legend. Legends earn gold as they progress through the quest, fighting enemy cards, which players can spend to aid their legends. Enemy players will be creating their own quests and may steal gold or weapons. In the end, players do battle against each other, with the victor being the last one standing.
It was a multiplayer game that was planned to have integration with RuneScape in the form of gaining additional cards. The beta version was released on 25 November 2015 and was officially released on Steam on 26 May 2016.
On 8 May 2018, it was announced that the game would be removed due to "multiple technical issues" combined with a dwindling player base. The servers for the game remained running until 6 AugustNew Fantasy Historical
