Global Domination was (for a while) an obsession of mine. I quite liked the setting as a teenager (managing global conflicts to avoid greater escalations on my Playstation was certainly novel to me), and the difficulty made me stubborn (I HAD to beat the game). I have vague yet distinctly strong memories of me patiently juggling attack and defense to exhaust the enemies and ultimately saving the day.
This one is a weird game, and honestly it's not THAT great. It's, however, a pretty unique mix. The story is driven by FMV of surprisingly decent quality (especially for the time), the high APM + tactical "Missile Commander" gameplay style on a global scale is frustrating, but can also be addictive if you get into it, and the arcane extra layer of managing your bases contributed to my fascination with the game. Almost nobody played it back in the day (I don't think there is a full playthrough of it anywhere online, for example), and I think that's a shame, since it's kind of worthwhile, if not as a hidden gem, at least as a curiosity.

Up to 10 party members can participate in any battle. Eventually, the characters can change classes and learn skills that are specific to each class. However, you will have to make sure your party is balanced or you will face certain doom. Will you be able to save the world from chaos in Tactics Ogre?

Players assume control of a daimyo (leader) of a contemporary Japanese clan and attempt to conquer the nation and claim the title of supreme Shogun, the undisputed military ruler of Japan.
