Inferno Climber is a unique, special game that was destined to be disliked and misunderstood in its time and will hopefully be better appreciated by future generations. A combination of an extremely simplified Soulslike gameplay with a fun element of platforming, classic Zelda bow interactions, and survivalist mechanics. A little bit buggy and janky, what holds this title together is its cheeky sense of humor that belies an endgame that is genuinely bleak in atmosphere in spite of the relentless use of stock assets, as well as its genuinely excellent bespoke level design in an era of dungeon crawlers where usually a limited budget means procedural generation.
A must play for fans of dungeon crawlers in my opinion.
