Story:Jetpack is a platform game available as freeware, originally published as shareware by Software Creations in 1993. The object of the levels is to collect all of the green emeralds scattered around the level while avoiding obstacles and enemies. Once accomplished, a door opens which the player must go through in order to advance to the next level. There is a single player, and a local multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode supports up to eight players, where players take turns on the same machine. The player is aided in his quest by a jetpack and a phase shifter, which allows tunnelling through certain walls. The environments, which usually consist of mazes of bricks, also feature vines, gold, ladders, ice, boxes, pillars, and conveyor belts. Other obstacles include jagged rocks, force fields, teleport pads, and indestructible bricks. In order to keep his jetpack running, the player has to collect fuel, by means of single/double tanks or fuel grids. The game includes a simple level editor. Numerous levels have been published on Adept Software's website. The registered game features 100 pre-built levels. The developers also released a hintbook containing screenshots and a short piece of advice for every level.Show more

Loved playing the shareware version of Jetpack Christmas when I was younger at my grandfather's house. So if this does come to GOG don't forget the xmas levels!

Jetpack is an excellent single-screen puzzle platformer released by Adept Software (the creators behind Squarez Deluxe and God of Thunder) and was published by Software Creations/Impulse Games (who also published Hexxagon, Hexxagon II and Argo Checkers) in 1993. Released in the popular shareware model, Jetpack turned out to be the highest selling game for publishers Software Creations/Impulse Games according to the AdeptSoftware website and even had a sequel - Jetpack 2, released in 2017 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Jetpack had since been released as freeware on the AdeptSoftware website along with their other games and some of the best themes and level packs (including the levels exclusive to Christmas Jetpack which introduced the xmas theme) are still available on the AdeptSoftware website. As with most shareware of the time, being liked enough to get your potential customers to order the registered version required proving your value for money and Jetpack certainly did that. Containing 100 levels, an included level editor, theme switcher (kid-friendly, normal and later adding an xmas theme), Full Hintbook and Manual. I loved playing Jetpack when I got a Titanium Seal blister pack containing the game and spent many hours when I was younger, challenging the levels - running from robots, avoiding giant marbles, rockets, robo-bats and other vicious hazards out to stop me, but if i'm honest most of my time was spent letting my imagination run free as I created levels in the editor. It wasn't until I dabbled around in the DOS directory before I discovered the theme switcher opening up the kid-friendly (no blood) and xmas themes to spur me onto making more levels. I also picked up other Adept Software games, like God of Thunder and and Squarez Deluxe, all of them proving to be well made, fun and worth my time so I say to you - all other games mentioned above are on the Dreamlist, so go vote for them too to preserve them on GOG.
Those games also need your vote!
Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix
Fear Effect 2: Retro HelixSet in a crazed, alternate future of Hong Kong, Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix is the prequel to the survival-horror hit Fear Effect. You play as one of four deadly mercenaries on a team that's been commissioned to bring back the kidnapped daughter of a powerful Chinese executive. The action begins with Hana, Glas, and Deke the three main characters from the original game meeting each other for the first time. Soon afterward they meet Rain, a close friend of Hana's. Hana, Glas, and Deke are on separate missions to retrieve three objects, but before long they realize that they're involved in the same deadly plot. The action takes the foursome through Hong Kong, Hell's Kitchen in New York City, the walled city of Xi'an, the lost tomb of the first emperor of China, and in the end, to the mountain island of the immortals, Penglai Shan. Then, after lunch, things really get crazy!
