Panzer Dragoon Orta

Panzer Dragoon Orta (2002)

by Smilebit, Sega
Genres:Shooter
Themes:Action, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player
Story:The fourth installment of the Panzer Dragoon series has you playing Orta, a young girl who has been imprisoned by the Empire. Under a wave of attack, the prison camp is broken through by a mysterious dragon, and Orta takes it upon herself to ride the dragon, and destroy the Empire once and for all. Along the way, she will also discover her own destiny, and the mystery surrounding her new friend. Simply put, you have limited control of the dragon for most of the game, as your trigger finger will be shooting non-stop at the enemies that fly around the area. Orta will be your main source of fire-power when you simply press the fire button, but by pressing and holding, the aim cursor will change, allowing you to fire a burst of power from the dragon at whatever the cursor aims at. The dragon itself can change into three forms at a press of a button. Each form has a different style of attack and power ability. A port of the original Panzer Dragoon is included.Show more

I have really enjoyed this whole series. My Xbox that I was using no longer works and would love to see more games from that platform make their way to PC. This so far is my favorite of the series and with seeing the first get a remake I am very excited to see more come on over to a platform like the PC. A platform in which games have a better chance to stay playable for longer and one that does not make you upgrade on its schedule but your own. When I think of the Xbox this is one of two games I think of first. The other being Jet Grind Radio Future which no lie I would also love to see on the PC.
Panzer Dragoon Orta is still, to this day, one of the best on rail shooters out there. The world design is amazing, the music is great, the gameplay is solid and the visuals still hold up very well to this day. The last in the Panzer Dragoon line up (not counting the remake). Despite that, however, it's also very beginner-friendly, and comes with the first one as a unlockable extra. Forever locked to the Xbox Ecosystem, it would be great if this saw a release on PC. It deserves it. The whole franchise deserves another shot to be honest. they are all fantastic games.
