Two regions! Need I say more? (At least that I won't also be saying of the rest of Gen 2.) This region had its own charm that sticks with me and probably also had the best sound track of all the games. I never got to play Crystal, but I keep replacing the battery on my old Gold cartridge just so I can keep playing this generation of Pokemon :)
The very first Pokemon game I ever owned that wasn't a hand me down from my brother. I got it on release day in 2000, and was so excited that I instantly opened the box after buying it and booted it up right away. Words cannot express just how many hours I put into this game as a kid, or the surprise I got when a really rare Pokemon sprung up out of no where and attacked me when I was in the grass. It got away, but I did eventually find it again and caught it. Hopefully other people remember getting the secret Lapras in the cave on a certain day of the week (friday?) I was so happy that there were two whole regions to explore unlike in previous games. I liked the game so much that I even bought the guide in 2000 from a shop called Asda.
Those games also need your vote!

Parasite Eve II
Parasite Eve IIParasite Eve II is an action role-playing survival horror video game released exclusively for the PlayStation. The game was developed by Square and published in Japan in 1999 and in both North America and, unlike the previous game, in PAL regions in 2000. It is the sequel to Parasite Eve and the second game in the series of the same name. Parasite Eve II is set several years after the events in the original game. The protagonist from the first game, Aya Brea, also features in this game as the playable character. She becomes involved with another outbreak of Mitochondrial creatures. Gameplay diverges from the previous game: battles take place in real time and the area of action is less restrictive. The approach is more typical of traditional survival horror games, although some role-playing elements are retained.
