Have not found any other modern/retro chess games that feature a "resistance training" kind of method to help improve gameplay. The King will "adapt" to your skill level, and make the ocassional blunders, mimicking a human opponent.
After you play against the King, the Queen will review the entire game move-by-move and make suggestions on what moves would have been better, or praise you for making an excellent move. All this, done in 3D mode and natural voice. I have never forgotten it, and would love to play it again on modern PCs.
I remember getting this as a kid and it was very good at giving players a variety of difficulties and play styles to practice against. It really did build up your chess abilities.
The queen narrating everything, including being a main character in the chess world herself, considering she's a characterbuilt on top of of WChess, made you feel like you were in on the biggest chess club in the world.
The option to view great historical games with the queen narrating each player and what turns they made and how they could've done better was also super informative as a chess student.
I am surprised that to this day, no one has replicated or built on what Sierra did with Power Chess, everything has been really lackluster in terms of the aility to train users until they're ready to play against other real life opponents.

The game follows the movies very closely and even got scenes from the films appear in game. Not only does the game contain a giant campaign where you play through the journey of the ring as the good side, the game also features an evil campaign where as the players play as the evil forces of Middle Earth. Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions.
