Space Station Silicon Valley

Space Station Silicon Valley (1998)

by DMA Design, Take-Two Interactive
Genres:Platform, Puzzle
Themes:Action, Comedy, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player
Story:A space station that was built more than 1000 years before by Earth, shortly after its launch, vanished. The station has since then mysteriously reappeared and it's bound on a collision course with Earth. Unless Dan and Evo can stop it, all will surely perish. The idea behind the game is fairly simplistic: players take on the role of Evo, a robotic microchip that possesses the unique ability to take over the bodies of dead (robotic) animals. Evo makes his way through a variety of levels and worlds filled with different objectives and, of course, different animals.Show more

Dear Esteemed GOG Team, We come to you with a request of absurd importance: please add Space Station Silicon Valley to your DRM-free library. It’s a game where a robot named Evo controls a bunch of bizarre robotic animals with ridiculous abilities—and it needs to be on your platform. Imagine: Evo inhabiting a spring-loaded robotic critter that launches him like a defective circus act, a robotic rat squeezing into places it has no business being, and a robotic scorpion that literally stabs its enemies. Oh, and the best part: a polar bear tank. It’s not a polar bear in a tank—it’s a polar bear that’s a tank with tank treads for legs, crushing everything in its path. The plot? Evo’s brain gets fused with a robotic dog, and he has to save a space station by jumping into various robotic animals with absurd abilities. There’s a robotic camel that functions as a mobile artillery unit, a robotic sheep that launches itself out of cannons, and a robotic bird... just for some mild variety. It’s the kind of weirdness that makes absolutely no sense but somehow works perfectly. GOG, you’re the kings of quirky, nostalgic, and weird games. Space Station Silicon Valley is the ultimate bizarre classic, and it’s ready for the absurd joyride you can provide. The community needs this game. Add it to your store, and we’ll bring an artillery robot camel to your headquarters. It’s fully armed. It’s coming. And don’t worry—it’ll be fine. Probably. Yours in chaos and nostalgia, A group of fans who definitely want a digital artillery robot camel. P.S. The artillery robot camel’s coming. Brace yourselves.
Such a chill game with a chill soundtrack. Escapism at its best. Enjoy the vibes and goof off with all the different animals. Its one of those games you would totally make as a kid if you had any idea how.
Glad to see this on the Dreamlist! I just mentioned it on another game I voted for (plug incoming) Mythic Force, which is basically a better version of Altered Beast. Think Streets of Rage but your characters transform into cool werebeasts. Give it your votes; it won't hurt. Anyway, Space Station Silicon Valley was one of my favorite games on the N64 growing up, along with Banjo-Tooie and Super Mario 64. I distinctly remember getting stuck on that stupid jungle stage, and I was unable to cross the invisible bridge to beat the dang level. So, I never beat the game. To be fair, I was just a stupid kid. But now I'm a stupid adult who wants to take a crack at it again! Please add this game to GOG. It's been stuck on the N64 forever. Also, we don't talk about the PS1 port. We don't even acknowledge its existence. Space Station Silicon Valley PS1 port where? When? Why? Exactly...
Those games also need your vote!
Blown Away
Blown AwayLoosely based on the movie of the same name, Blown Away is a puzzle-solving adventure game similar to The 7th Guest. You play a bomb-squad cop in pursuit of crazed bomber Jimmy Scaggs, you follow the storyline through videos and then get to navigate through virtual rooms filled with hot spots. Clicking on them then leads you to logic-puzzle sequences where your objective is to disarm bombs through said puzzles, usually against a timer. You get logic, number, word and maze puzzles.

Discworld
DiscworldDiscworld is a game released for PC (subsequently Mac, and Playstation) by Teeny Weeny / Perfect 10 studios in 1995. The game was released both on floppy disk and CD-Rom. The latter featured a commentary team created of many veterans of famous Brit-Coms. This included Monty Python's Eric Idle, Radio 4's (later to be more famous) Rob Brydon, ex- Doctor Who John Pertwee, 70s pop singer Kate Robbins, and Blackadder star Tony Robinson. The game is a riff on the Discworld title 'Guards, Guards', however many elements of the text have been shifted, not least the inclusion of Rincewind as protagonist. The game featured puzzles which were considered far too difficult and obtuse for gamers of the time, but the game itself has had a lasting legacy, now being accepted into such emulators as SCUMMVM.

Silent Hill 3
Silent Hill 3Silent Hill 3 is the third installment in the Silent Hill series. Like the previous entries, Silent Hill 3 is a survival horror combining action-based combat and puzzle-solving, but is somewhat more combat-oriented than the preceding installments. The main character is able to side-step and block some attacks, but in general shares with the other protagonists of the series their relative ineptitude in combat.
