Space Station Silicon Valley

Space Station Silicon Valley (1998)

by DMA Design, Take-Two Interactive
Genres:Platform, Puzzle
Themes:Action, Comedy, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player
Story:A space station that was built more than 1000 years before by Earth, shortly after its launch, vanished. The station has since then mysteriously reappeared and it's bound on a collision course with Earth. Unless Dan and Evo can stop it, all will surely perish. The idea behind the game is fairly simplistic: players take on the role of Evo, a robotic microchip that possesses the unique ability to take over the bodies of dead (robotic) animals. Evo makes his way through a variety of levels and worlds filled with different objectives and, of course, different animals.Show more

Dear Esteemed GOG Team, We come to you with a request of absurd importance: please add Space Station Silicon Valley to your DRM-free library. It’s a game where a robot named Evo controls a bunch of bizarre robotic animals with ridiculous abilities—and it needs to be on your platform. Imagine: Evo inhabiting a spring-loaded robotic critter that launches him like a defective circus act, a robotic rat squeezing into places it has no business being, and a robotic scorpion that literally stabs its enemies. Oh, and the best part: a polar bear tank. It’s not a polar bear in a tank—it’s a polar bear that’s a tank with tank treads for legs, crushing everything in its path. The plot? Evo’s brain gets fused with a robotic dog, and he has to save a space station by jumping into various robotic animals with absurd abilities. There’s a robotic camel that functions as a mobile artillery unit, a robotic sheep that launches itself out of cannons, and a robotic bird... just for some mild variety. It’s the kind of weirdness that makes absolutely no sense but somehow works perfectly. GOG, you’re the kings of quirky, nostalgic, and weird games. Space Station Silicon Valley is the ultimate bizarre classic, and it’s ready for the absurd joyride you can provide. The community needs this game. Add it to your store, and we’ll bring an artillery robot camel to your headquarters. It’s fully armed. It’s coming. And don’t worry—it’ll be fine. Probably. Yours in chaos and nostalgia, A group of fans who definitely want a digital artillery robot camel. P.S. The artillery robot camel’s coming. Brace yourselves.
Such a chill game with a chill soundtrack. Escapism at its best. Enjoy the vibes and goof off with all the different animals. Its one of those games you would totally make as a kid if you had any idea how.
Those games also need your vote!
Silent Hill 3
Silent Hill 3Silent Hill 3 is the third installment in the Silent Hill series. Like the previous entries, Silent Hill 3 is a survival horror combining action-based combat and puzzle-solving, but is somewhat more combat-oriented than the preceding installments. The main character is able to side-step and block some attacks, but in general shares with the other protagonists of the series their relative ineptitude in combat.

Shadow Assault: Tenchu
Shadow Assault: TenchuShadow Assault: Tenchu is a downloadable action puzzle video game developed and published by FromSoftware for the Xbox 360 on October 8, 2008. The game places the player in charge of one of several selectable characters from the Tenchu universe. Players are given a task to complete on the level, playing out much like Bomberman, where players must place ninja traps and other items on the field for enemies to run afoul of. Enemies in the game have a hit point total, displayed above their heads, and a line of sight grid, shown as yellow squares over the regular terrain. When a player is spotted by a unit, its sight turns to red squares, and it begins to chase the player. After a time, if the player has yet to be reacquired by the enemy, it will return to its original pathfinding.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 RemixKingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix includes... Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix In the original and Final Mix versions of Kingdom Hearts, the command menu had four commands: Attack, Magic, Items, and a fourth context-sensitive slot that varied depending on what the player had targeted, where they were, etc. The command menu has been updated to include "Attack", "Magic", "Items", and "Summons" in the fourth slot, which was originally located as a sub-category beneath the "Magic" menu. The original fourth command has been replaced by the introduction of Reaction Commands from Kingdom Hearts II and are triggered by pressing the Triangle Button. The camera works more similarly to that of Kingdom Hearts II, utilizing the right thumb stick to move the camera and allowing the player to click the R3 button to reset the camera behind Sora, as opposed to the original game which made use of the shoulder triggers L2 and R2 to position the camera. Overall, the gameplay of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix was modified so it would play more similarly to Kingdom Hearts II and Re:Chain of Memories, to create a more consistent play style throughout the series. Kingdom Hearts: Re:Chain of Memories This version of Chain of Memories was released in Europe and Australia for the first time as part of the collection, as it was previously released in North America in December 2008. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days This game, originally released for the Nintendo DS, does not appear in playable form in this collection, and is instead adapted into 2 hours and 50 minutes worth of cinematic cutscenes, remastered in high definition.

Journey
JourneyIn Journey the player controls a robed figure in a vast desert, traveling towards a mountain in the distance. Other players on the same journey can be discovered, and two players can meet and assist each other, but they cannot communicate via speech or text and cannot see each other's names. The only form of communication between the two is a musical chime. This chime also transforms dull, stiff pieces of cloth found throughout the levels into vibrant red, affecting the game world and allowing the player to progress through the levels. The robed figure wears a trailing scarf, which when charged by approaching floating pieces of cloth, briefly allows the player to float through the air. The developers sought to evoke in the player a sense of smallness and wonder, and to forge an emotional connection between them and the anonymous players they meet along the way. The music, composed by Austin Wintory, dynamically responds to the player's actions, building a single theme to represent the game's emotional arc throughout the story. Reviewers of the game praised the visual and auditory art as well as the sense of companionship created by playing with a stranger, calling it a moving and emotional experience. Journey won several "game of the year" awards and received several other awards and nominations, including a Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media nomination for the 2013 Grammy Awards.
