Star Ocean The Second Story is for me by far the best RPG game ever made. This game had an epic story, awesome mechanics like using skills and they got stronger, changed how they looked like, crafting, cooking arena, fighting arena, many secrets, many endings, many characters you could unlock and I can't remember how many hours I've put into that game. I had like 5 memory sticks and all of them where full with mostly Star Ocean saves. One Memory stick even had 8 sides. Gosh this game shaped my childhood. There is an remaster of it but Square Enix changed many things and even removed good things like the cooking arena. They've added an horrible cooking button smash that I never used. I loved to cook in the original Star Ocean 2. I've spent sooo many hours with my friends and family just with that cooking arena mechanic. Most of the skills in the remake are horribly boring and weak. The original had so many cool skills and most of them are just useless in the remake. The remake is still a good game but because of these points it's just not what I remember it to be. It feels just not right. SO2 was and still is the best RPG for me and I guess it will never change.

This is the first RPG I ever remember playing, and I played it a lot. I remember my excitement when recruiting characters first time, when beating the final boss for the first time, and even when I discovered a LOT of secrets after! It didn't hook me for a few months or even a few years, it's hooked me for decades and I'm sure it'll hook me for decades longer with its unforgettable characters, lovingly and meticulously designed combat, deep and interesting story, unique and amazing crafting system, and how the entire bundle comes together for an experience that is impossible to find anywhere else.

this was my first time experiencing starocean on ps1 back in the day i had so much fun with the game but never beaten it lol. i came close so many times but now the the remastered version came out i started playing that a bit when i have time. i never played any other of the starocean franchise and i heard many good things about them and what not. i do own them in physical copy and digital lol. but anyways i just love how i remember you can make certain character and turn them into something that the game kinda needs you to craft or do certain things to make the game more interesting. hands down i still love the second story for starocean. hell i just wished they continued making the anime series which i own as well. need this to be preserved lol
