The Cool Croc Twins

The Cool Croc Twins (1992)

Genres:Platform, Puzzle
Themes:Action
Game modes:Single player, Multiplayer
Story:Cool Croc Twins is a platform game where, as one of the cool crocodile twins Punk and Funk, you try to reach the beautiful crocodile girl. To do so, you'll have to complete over 60 levels. Each level is made of a bunch of thin, floating platforms. When you approach the edge of a platform, you do not fall off - rather, you begin walking upside-down on the other side! Instead of jumping, you "reverse the gravity" of your croc, causing him to fall up or down until he lands on a platform. You goal on each level is to light up all the bulbs by bumping them with your head. If you hit the bulb three times it will be completely lit up. Some bulbs are invisible on higher levels. There are also foes who want to stop you and who sabotage your efforts by bumping into the bulbs you've lit, turning them off. Your foes can walk on both sides of the platforms just as you and can jump from platform to platform just as you, so watch out!Show more

This game had in a way somewhat similar approach to a shared view puzzle gaming as Bubble Bobble. Instead of defeating enemies, the goal is to fill in blocks while those enemies try to hamper all your efforts. Likewise you can collect helpful bonus items and you are on a per level time limit which is a bit more forgiving than the one in Bubble Bobble. The levels get progressively more difficult and beating the game was a challenge to share with a sibling, a relative or a childhood friend. Of course you can play solo too. This is one of my childhood favorites I'd like to immortalize.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of AgesThe Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages is one of two Zelda titles released for the Game Boy Color, the other being Oracle of Seasons. The game retain many gameplay elements from Link's Awakening such as the graphics, audio and top-view perspective. It also features eight dungeons and a large overworld to explore like in the previous games. Oracle of Ages is said to be more puzzle-oriented than its counterpart being more action-oriented. After completing one of the two games, both can be linked to form a single linear plot with an alternate ending. Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons were often credited as being two of the top games for the Game Boy Color.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind WakerThe Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is the 10th sequel of the Legend of Zelda action-adventure series. It's the first game of the series to be set on a group of islands in the sea. Therefore, many of Link's actions base on sailing and travelling from island to island, making a baton for controlling the wind the key item of the game. Wind Waker is the first game of the Series with a cel-shaded graphic style. Since fans expected a Zelda game with realistic graphics like being shown at the Space World in 2000, the cel-shading look was critisized and discussed controversial for being too cartoonish.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom HourglassThe Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is the first Zelda game for the Nintendo DS and a direct sequel to The Wind Waker. The art direction is the same cel-shaded style as the Wind Waker but is displayed from a classic top-down perspective. The gameplay is structured similarly to other games in the series and is divided into two major gameplay sections: sailing between islands and exploring the islands and their dungeons on foot. The touch screen is used to make Link move and attack instead of buttons, you can also make notes of secret treasures and items on the map simply by writing them down. The game received critical acclaim from reviewers, who agreed that the game was a worthy sequel to The Wind Waker.
