While this game is short, I made a stronger connection to the squares in this than I have with any other games NPCs. The naration is just spot on and I really with that Mike Bithell brings it to GOG at some point. There is already a DRM free release but I need it here on GOG as well.

Many years ago I saw this little game on the PS3 store and thought to myself "Surely a platformer about squares and rectangles is nothing special." and dismissed it entirely for a couple of years. But then one day I watched a video by the late TotalBiscuit (rest in peace) where he gushed about how he fell in love with this game for a couple of minutes before moving onto the next subject, which in turn did make me a bit more open to trying it. Not long after that, I found the game was free for Playstation Plus, being a subscriber back then I decided to try it and kept an open mind, and wow I was blown away by how much I loved it. A truly wonderful and emotional journey about squares and rectangles meeting up together, making friends and forming alliances, working together to overcome not only their obstacles but also their fears, self doubts and loneliness. The gameplay was simple but really enjoyable puzzle platforming goodness, and the story was absolutely wonderful. I would happily pick this up in a heartbeat the moment it would arrive on GOG.

It's an artsy platformer game without being so up itself that it sees what it had for breakfast. You get time to breathe, time to think, and more importantly the narration isn't constantly banging on about the atom bomb or whatever Braid was about. It's a game ultimately about teamwork, as in the style of the Lost Vikings, but with a bit more than "Stab, shield and run".

Discworld II: Mortality Bytes!
Discworld II: Mortality Bytes!Discworld II: Mortality Bytes! is the second point-and-click adventure game based on Terry Pratchett's series of fantasy novels set on the mythical Discworld. The game was developed and produced in 1996 by Perfect Entertainment for the PC, and ported in 1997 for the PlayStation and Sega Saturn. It was published by Psygnosis for the PC and PlayStation, and by Sega for the Saturn (only in Europe). In Discworld II the player controls Rincewind the "wizzard" (voiced by Eric Idle, as in the previous game) who has been burdened with the task of coercing Death out of his impromptu retirement and back into his regular duties. The plot borrows from a number of Discworld books, most notably Reaper Man, Moving Pictures and Lords and Ladies. It all begins in a quiet Ankh-Morpork street, where Rincewind and The Librarian inexplicably fail to die from a nearby cart-bomb explosion. The odd event is not shared by them alone however: occurrences of the newly dead re-awakening and disturbing the populace are being reported all over the city, prompting the Archchancellor of Unseen University to halt his usual activities of feasting and merrymaking, and to take charge of the situation. Much to Rincewind's despair, the entirety of this process involves appointing him to the task of finding Death and convincing him to resume his work.
