Turok (2008)

by Propaganda Games, Touchstone Games
Genres:Shooter
Themes:Action, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player, Split screen
Story:Turok is a first-person shooter developed by Propaganda Games, and published by Touchstone Games and Disney Interactive Studios, originally for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in February 2008. It was later ported on to Microsoft Windows in April 2008. A sequel was planned and developed for the Xbox 360 but it was cancelled before it was even officially announced. The game is loosely based on the comic book series of the same title and is unrelated to the story and setting of previous Turok video games. Players assume the role of Native American space marine Joseph Turok, who is part of a team sent to a remote planet to apprehend his previous commanding officer, General Roland Kane, now a wanted war criminal. After crash landing, Turok discovers this planet is home to all manner of dinosaurs, and must fight both the predatory creatures and Kane's private army on his mission to take down his former mentor.Show more

This game was an incredible reboot to the Turok franchise in early 2008. The story of being shot down in space and crashing landing on a dinosaur ridden planet and after your old warmongering mentor was amazing. So many things i loved, the combat, fighting with the primitive bow and knife or blowing apart dino's with a RPG launcher and watching the guts rain down. Whether it be the boss fights of a loch ness styled monster or the legendary t-rex. Such a shame the sequel was cancelled by DISNEY. But with the new Turok game being announced and the fact that you cannot get this game on PC (unless on a windows disc) and all previous games have been re-released/remastered, except this bad boy. You're our only hope GOG!

One of the best modern fps ever created, the visuals are astonishing but the graphics keep that old fps feels. The gunplay is very good, have stealth touchs with your bow. Plus the boss fights are very cool. This game deserves a return to stores!
While some hate it, I loved this game and spent countless hours playing the co-op campaign with friends and randoms alike(Just beware some players and the shared lives pool). It is still a fun and unique game with fighting enemy soldiers and dinos so what's not to love. Sadly only options are scalpers online for it now.

i never undersood the hatred towards this game, sure it had it's downs but also its up more ups than downs, it made it special cause it was fun, i played it on Xbox 360 and i was on my way to get all achievements but never got there since my disc stopped working (thanks microsoft), what made it fun was the weapon variety while also giving some strong Dinosaur fights also you had to fight against soldiers with aimbot so that was the challenge, i honestly would like to see it back here on GOG beacuse it would be such an amazing nostalgia trip for me, and this game goes so far to be forgotten to be considered abandonware and that made me sad and with the dissapeareance of physical copies i think it deserves some redemption.
One of the greatest all time dinosaur games to ever be released! Great scale, story, and graphics especially for the time. The dinosaurs are the best part of the game, the part where the trex enters the scene in the beginning of the game is imo one of gamings greatest cinematic moments. Please bring this game back!
No prejustice about this game please. Do not think it isn't a bad link in the chain. Probably it shouldn't be called "Turok". And that is all that is bad. And some bug. But they can be avoid. This game was gifted me on my 20th birthday. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to play it to the end at that moment. I completed it after "DmC: Devil May Cry" so the game was very old then. BUT it was amazing!! Even after all these years it was something a breath of fresh air. Run and Gun! Gun and Run!

This is what I want, be a human on an alien planet or old Earth trying to suvive against dinosauruses/monsters, in FPS AAA photorealistic graphics game. Well I wish this got remaster/remake (reboot of a reboot?), no game has ever came close to its vibe that was somewhat similar... I missed getting this on digital stores too sadly... I know dinos were sidedish and story-gamplay focus were on human enemies, I liked it all, if I had to say a thing is that I wish for this kind of game there would be even less focus on humans or humaoid aliens then even this had, or even leave them out altogether. I liked the Avatarish "human first time on Pandora where everything wants to eat him" feeling, parts. The hostile unknown dangerous wilderness...

How can anyone hate a game where Ron Perlman burns dinos with you? Genuinely just felt fun to play and it's next to impossible to get it working on modern systems. Strafing around an arena desperately pumping shots into a T rex, the three way fights between dinos, mercs, and friendlies. The story is basic but basic doesn't mean bad, all the doomed last stands feel epic. Special mention to the melee takedown animations and the bow pickup line. "Good weapon... if we were fightin' General Custer."

This game was a great reboot. The setting is set on a planet filled with dinosaurs, while you must hunt your former mentor. The Dinosaurs model is kinda terrifying which is great, i hope The GOG can bring back this game and fix or change some the mechanism, (in this game you can only throw granade with Shift + Right mouse button (i mean why?)). Anyway this game deserve a return!
Why Turok (2008) Needs to Be on GOG and Why It’s an Underrated Hit Turok (2008) is one of those forgotten gems that deserves a second life—and a place on GOG would be the perfect way to give it one. Often overlooked due to its departure from the classic N64-era formula, this reboot brought a gritty, cinematic edge to the franchise that was ahead of its time. It embraced a darker, more realistic tone, blending sci-fi military action with the primal terror of surviving against dinosaurs and other deadly creatures. The game’s premise—being stranded on a hostile planet crawling with prehistoric beasts and a rogue military faction—sets the stage for intense, atmospheric gameplay. The jungle environments are lush, immersive, and filled with tension, where danger lurks behind every tree. One of the most exciting aspects is how dinosaurs are not just enemies—they're part of the ecosystem. You can manipulate them to attack soldiers or use stealth to survive both humans and predators, creating dynamic and chaotic encounters. Turok (2008) also shines with its weapon variety, solid AI, and cinematic storytelling. The knife takedown system was brutal and satisfying, and the voice acting (featuring Ron Perlman!) gave the characters weight. It may not have received the same acclaim as its predecessors, but it absolutely delivered on intense, fast-paced action. A GOG release would bring this cult classic back for modern players—free from DRM and compatible with current PCs. With its thrilling gameplay and unique atmosphere, Turok (2008) deserves to be rediscovered by a new generation.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
