Warlords series was my first strategy experience, and of them I had the most fun with 4. The mechanic of building up and investing in your hero throughout the campaign was so engaging, and was the first i had seen in this style. GOG please save this game!!
My best "come back to" game. I used to play it many many dozens of times on my old pc. The mechanic of building up and investing in your hero throughout the campaign was so engaging. Also the maps were many and varied.

It was a relatively easy game to get into with zero previous experience. And the turn-based logic allowed you to play in a relaxing way. But while mechanics seemed simple, the graphics, sound and the design of the units kept you engaged. I had my favorite units (pegasus, if I remember correctly). And I still remember the phrase "watch the sky" said in that exact voice in the game.
I have a REAL soft spot for the Warlords series. When I was in high school, I was at a sleep-over at a friend's place, and we all played a hot-seat match with the original Warlords game. The most vivid memory I have is after everyone went to sleep, I stayed up all night playing on my friend's 386 and didn't look up until passed 6AM. As of this writing, I have own all of the Warlords games on physical media, including the Battlecry and Puzzle Quest spin-offs. Come to think of it, the Puzzle Quest series of games should be on GOG, too!
2005 I was in a new Town and after a hard day of studies I enjoyed a nice game of warlords 4. Very relaxing 😌 please bring back that game. I would buy it immediately. But it must be able run on a new pc. Thank you very much

The Chessmaster 4000 Turbo
The Chessmaster 4000 TurboThe first 32-bit title in the Chessmaster series, Chessmaster 4000 Turbo offers features designed around the processors of the time. Modem and LAN play is available for the first time. Boards are viewed in 2D or 3D, and include many custom sets, with game options selected from surrounding windows and drop-down menus. Entering moves is now easier - if you click on a square which only one of your pieces can move to, it will move there automatically. Full games (including 500 recreated real-life classics) can be analysed from an expert perspective, and a library of common opening move sequences is included. Computer players act in a variety of ability levels and play styles - some are prepared to play for a draw, others are focused on keeping the centre of the board tidy, and so on.

J.R.R. Tolkien's Riders of Rohan
J.R.R. Tolkien's Riders of RohanAnother J.R.R. Tolkien based game, but specifically focused on the Two Towers story, starting right before the siege of Helm's Deep: the battle between the defending forces of Rohan and the attacking legions of the evil wizard Saruman. The game introduces a similiar style of play as War in Middle Earth, that is a macro-world map point of view which operates battles and movement of mass armies, and there's a micro point of view, a more 'action' approach where the original characters of the Fellowship can battle enemies at a smaller scale: shoot orcs from a ranged distance, fight them melee in an arcade fighting style or challenge them in a duel of magic.
