Is there any form of speed or attack penalty when I equip my Ranger with plate mail instead of splinter or chainmail? Looked throu the manual and the info in the game, but the only thing that I can find is the effect on weight and how much they can carry.
Been a long time since I played, but I think it has no effect on speed or attack, but it disables some of the Ranger abilities.

Really? I can't say I've noticed that, I'm playing as a ranger with Ankheg plate and haven't lost anything
Yeah, I could be wrong on that, Alpha. As I said, been a long time, and I could be mixing rule sets as well.
There's no penalty for wearing "plate mail instead of splinter or chainmail", wearing heavier armor than studded leather disables stealth, but for combat it won't make a difference whether your ranger is wearing full plate or naked.

yes your ranger wont be able to hide in shadows if you use heavy armor
Ok then I will use the heavy armor on the ranger. I never really used his sneak ability anyway. Thanks for the help everyone.
yea for a ranger you can do without hide in shadows, but on a thief it can be very useful. backstab can be an important strategic advantage.
