Imagine Baldur's Gate 2, mashed together with Dragon Age: Origins.

Then you get: BG2: Redux.

An amazing looking fan-made module for DAO.

Currently only Irenicus' dungeon (beginning section) is available, but they are working on the rest.

As seen on GameBanshee: http://www.gamersnexus.net/features/gg/442-baldurs-gate-2-redux-released-for-dragon-age

Imagine recreating the entire BG2 game in the DA engine. That would be a CRAZY amount of work.
Wets self during video - downloads immediately.
If I recall correctly, there were a few of these for NWN as well.

Crap like this pops up all the time. I'll believe it is worth looking into if it ever gets near completion. Best case scenario: Black Mesa (or whatever the HL->HL2 mod is called) where it comes out five or six years later. Most likely case scenario: Just about every other attempt.

I suspect that one reason these tend to fail is because there is much less of a driving force. If you are making your own level/mod/adventure, you get to experiment and make decisions. With a remake, you have a set script, so it gets boring.
Probably, but at least something came out of this one, even if it is just a demo.

I will say, it looks awesome. Imoen's looking pretty fine too. Minsc looks good, but I'd want to see Boo as well. Has anyone here played this yet? Is Boo implemented?
This is a project which I don't think will be completed. BG2 is HUGE, not to mention the fact that each map was essentially just a 2D drawing, whereas now you'd need to create not just every location, but all the little objects with HD graphics, rewrite a novel's worth of text, etc. That little dungeon accounting for probably 0.5% of the game took 10 months to do... we might be waiting for a long time.

Looks awesome though :D

Well, that's a huge undertaking and mad props to people doing it but... I'm not sure I'm really interested. I mean, DAO's graphical engine was not what has impressed me in DAO, and seeing Irenicus' dungeon images, I find it way too "generic", comparing to the original BG2.

Of course, I understand that it's a WIP and that it can change a lot, but still, I have mixed feelings about that project...
Well minsc & yoshimo look pretty good, imoen looked like a generic PC build and jaheira looked like a generic elf npc

Maybe its my lack of familiarity with BG2 but the opening dungeon IS the bit that I've seen and I didn't really see anything that looked baldurs gatey about it
Finally got to play a bit with it. I am impressed. Everything is well done even down to character creation and the BC2 Spells. Love the fact that Boo is there and they even had the Golden Pantaloons. I think this is a huge undertaking and really hope they can stick it out. I for one think there needs to be more from the modding community with this engine as I think there is great potential to stretch out its life. I am not a modder but I have to believe there is much more potential than the NWN engine.
