advowson: Bob-NZ: The opening post says "BG1 classic". I see Neera in your screenshot, so it looks like you are playing the Enhanced Edition. The ring is known to be present in the English version of the Enhanced Edition.

As to your problem with Imoen, that seems unrelated to this thread. I suggest you start a new thread, and show also a screenshot of Imoen's Report page and her Wizard Book for level 1 spells.
Imoen Jahaira and Kahlid are game made the rest are my builds with game store pics. I wanted better spec's. So when I feel like it, I spend some time pushing reroll. Totally irrelevant here but the best I've done is a ranger stalker 98 points to spend.

I didn't have a mage so dueled Imoen to get one to see if the ring worked. Which it didn't. Thats why I mentioned it. I sort of thought I'd add it to fill in the gaps.

This is my second or third post. I kept it to what I thought was relevant. {{[BG1 classic] No ring of wizardry near Friendly Arm Inn?}}Where the ring was to be found, and who I tried it on. And the results.

So my apologies I used the GOG forum link from the game to, https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series#1705779181

Also, for not reading every post.

I was trying to be helpful. I'll restrain myself in future.

All the best.

Cheers Bob.
This forum serves both Baldur's Gate: Classic Edition and Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition,[1] so you are not in the wrong forum. However, you are in the wrong thread for a discussion of the Ring of Wizardry not working as intended once equipped, which is why I suggested opening a separate thread and providing screenshots showing how you determined that it was not working. Since I am already here, I will offer what I hope to be helpful commentary for you:

- Evermemory's effect is immediate upon equipping it. The character will gain additional spell slots for level 1 wizard spells. Those slots will be empty until you choose spells to memorize in them. As per standard BG rules, once you have chosen those spells, you must rest for 8 hours to memorize those spells.
- No level-up is required to apply Evermemory's effect.
- Removing Evermemory will immediately remove the bonus slots, causing those spells to be forgotten as if they had been unsuccessfully cast. If you re-equip Evermemory and rest again, the spells will be re-memorized. The Enhanced Editions keep your spell preferences, even for spell slots that are not available. I think I read that the Classic Edition would completely discard it, forcing you to fill those slots again when they were restored.
- A level-up that grants you additional level 1 wizard spells should also grant you the corresponding bonus slots from Evermemory, without requiring the party to rest.

[1]: This forum also serves Baldur's Gate 2: Classic Edition and Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition. It unfortunately seems to attract a lot of attention from Baldur's Gate 3 players, even though that game has very little in common with these, and has its own distinct forum.

Thanks,
But this game is so hard to get your teeth into I'm going back to my old CD's of the original. It's just too screwed up. I can't even get the characters I save to show up yet it finds the built in ones. And maybe one or two of mine.

I don't recall having this problem when I first bought it years ago.

By the way evermemory did work. Just needed to verify the game files again. Then restart the game this morning it worked.

Don't worry about replying, I'm pretty sure forums are not for me. The answers may be here, but I don't have enough life left to read it all. And play the games I want to play.

Have a good one.

We know where our journey ends its the road it takes, we need to find to get there. Thats the mystery bit.

Cheers Bob.
no one is responsible for it as its dead software... thats why Gog gives it away free with EE

you could try opening a ticket... its just a spelling mistake in their code [because the ring is there but not being called]
NZ is a model commie state these days AFAIK - a bastion of common sense that is.

discohijack: Thanks for the responses, but I don't think you really read what I wrote.

I've searched the area thoroughly. Wiggled my mouse around the tree, tried the coordinates, everything. But it's really not there.

I searched around the net and apparently versions of the game after 1.3.5512 don't have the ring. I have 1.3.5521.

I am going to try search for it in the English version of the game.
AFAIR, it depends on the patch version AND the fact that TOSC is installed or not.
TOSC is installed ? then the ring should be there whatever the patch)

I have the original game on CDs and never found the ring with and without the patch. Now I have the EE edition and found the ring using the AI button on the right side of the screen.

For original release copies you'll have to pixel hunt.

For EE, or one of the mods that combine BG1, 2 and ToB, you can use the highlight key to find it.
it does depend on the build... the ring was not in the release [back in the day] but it is in the Gog build
so

1 if you have the Gog sold old build then the ring is there and you have to pixel search
2 if you have a disc copy it may or may not be there , depends on the build
3 if you have Gog BgEE, Beamdog BgEE or Steam BgEE then the ring is there

The ring is there in the GOG English version, but it is NOT there in the GOG's polish version, at least not in the classic BG. I haven't tested the EE version.
How weird, why would the ring be missing in the first place ?

And are the other easter eggs missing, too ?

Oh really ? Strange.

I always only plaed the english version, so I guess thats why it was always there.

I haven't tested other easter eggs. All I know from my short (and incomplete) playthrough of polish edition a while ago is that the ring is missing but the diamond hidden in a tree in the area next to Candlekeep is there for example.

The Polish CD version of the original game is missing only the ring of wizardry, the rest of the hidden items are there.

As for why it is the case my guess would be that the version of the game that was provided for translation was with the ring missing. It's there in the TotSC expansion though.
