In Baldur's Gate 2, is it possible to disband someone you have a romance-in-progress with, then recruit them a short while later without ruining the romance?

I am playing a fighter that I'm going to dual-class to cleric, and I am romancing Jaheira. Once I dual to cleric, I want to disband everyone and turn in a few almost-complete quests I have in order to catch up on cleric levels quickly. However, I don't want to ruin the romance I have in-progress.

Yes it will ruin the romance, the concerned character will even warn you of it if you try to get rid of him/her.
Your romance interest can leave the party without the romance being ruined (they leave the party all the time anyway, as you may remember).
However, there's a time limit of three days for everyone but Jaheira. If they're gone for longer than that the romance's over.

Actually, I won't remember because this is my first ever play through of BG2 :-).

So I have one person saying it will ruin it immediately, and another saying there's a 3 day time limit on everyone but Jaheira (who is, as previously mentioned, my love interest). So does this mean that you get 3 days with others but with Jaheira it is ruined immediately?
Kicking Jaheira will end the romance, I am afraid. How far are you in the game?

I overlooked dialogues. You have a three-day grace period with the others but going through the kick-out dialogue with Jaheira will end the romance immediately.

Well dang. Oh well, thanks for the answers.

I'm still in chapter 2 doing some sidequests. I'm pretty close to paying off the shadow thieves to help me get Imoen.

Answer cred goes to Irrbloss for giving the most detail.

Yeah I just wouldn't risk it to be honest. Some of the romances can be buggy at the best of times, I think I lost a Viconia romance once because of it.
