Dumb question, but I'll just come out and ask it. Is the GOG version of BG2 actually v26498? By that I mean, is BGmain.exe actually bgmain.exe v26498? I've seen incompatibility problems with the BiG World Project and ran into my own problem manually installing a component of 1 Pixel Productions.

On the other hand, could the GOG version of bgmain.exe be labeled v26498 but actually not contain the right updates?

Or is it labeled something other than v26498, but contain all the updates included in the v26498 patch?

Cognoscenti, do you know?

It's fine. I had the same BWP error and used the 26498 patch manually which over-wrote the existing exe and now requires me to use a cd. Just take the patch *.txt from the 26498 patch download (TOB version) and put the *.txt file in your BGII - SOA directory. Then re-run the BWP setup, from what I've heard it should work. The alternative is to edit the install.bat file which I never got the hang of.
Yeah, there is a great guide here on using BWP on the GOG versions

I had this issue recently, where I patched my game but as Riddle said - it kept requesting a CD after.

Just copying the txt file into your BGII - SoA folder will get BWP install to work without any issues or the need for a CD
Ah ok cool.

So: it has all the goodies of v26498, but it's not expressly called 26498, which causes BWP to have a heart attack. Makes sense.

Thanks!
