so i was crashing within minutes of starting the game. i selected street kid and i could barely take a few steps out of the bar before i crashed. i tried tuning down the settings but that didn't help at all.
WHAT IT WAS:
the game is sensitive to graphics card OVERCLOCKS. thing is, i DID NOT OVERCLOCK my graphics card.
BUT
the graphics card (ZOTAC 1080ti 11gb) is OVERCLOCKED OUT OF THE BOX!!!!!
so the zotac comes with a gpu settings app called firestorm. most brands will have their own. using that, i downclocked the gpu to the most i could downclock it by - -400mhz. i tried this previously and it didn't seem to do anything.
but then, i read on a reddit thread that some guy got his oculus games to work by underclocking the gpu AND GPU MEMORY. on the zotac app, memory can be downclocked by -100mhz so i lowered it down to that.
and VOILA, the game works!!! i was actually also having problems with ASGARD'S WRATH for the oculus quest so i was researching thinking that the same problem might be afflicting both games... and it seems like that was the case!
so just to put this out there for the record- if your cyberpunk 2077 is crashing regularly, try downclocking... also find out if your gfx card is overclocked by default too but regardless, try downclocking gpu and gpu ram. it might help!
good luck out there and have fun!
