Virgile: Salutations!

Hope you’re all doing well so far this week :)

Just sharing the current status of the Fallout 4 Next Gen update.

First of all, rest assured that both Bethesda and GOG teams are working on delivering the DRM-free version of this update as soon as possible.

However, we heard the feedback from the gaming community about the said update, that while bringing many useful improvements and additions, it sadly renders a tremendous amount of amazing mods unusable.

TLDR: We are considering freezing our build of Fallout 4 to provide the modding community with the necessary time to make their mods compatible with the last update.

The updated build, once greenlighted by both Bethesda and GOG, would be available via our GOG Galaxy beta branch system -and as an offline patch- to allow you to enjoy your modded version until you consider that the time is right.

Let us know your thoughts, wish you all a pleasant week.

Worm regards,

Virgile

reallynonessential: "The modding community" does not need to make their mods compatible with the last update, so it would be better the current version (1.10.163.0) remains accessible. Also, 1.10.163.0 is what I purchased and I do not want another version, thanks.

Does Bethesda still make new original games ?
Please don't think you are the only player of this game (what an ego LOL) I want the update.

All you said was to keep a past version accessible, which is fair. They should do that with all new versions or big updates.

Has nothing to do with ego, just common sense. But this is the internet so that goes out the window.

Well I want the update as well so nope, they aren't the only player. Looks like that blows your theory out of the water.
I want any and all updates as soon as released, even if it breaks MODS!

I paid for an Official Copy of the game which should include all Official updates!

I hope they get the mods done ASAP! It shouldn't take that long to remove the DRM from each mod.
It's possible that the delay in the GOG Fallout 4 next-gen update is due to there being an NPC bug introduced by Bethesda with the next-gen release.

See Arthmoor's post on the UFO4P on Nexus from 3 days ago (6 posts down from the top). He apparently has verifiable evidence that ANY mod that modifies ANY NPC (no matter the edit) will have issues. This is a HUGE bug if true so, it makes sense that Beth wouldn't green light the GOG version without a fix for that.

I'd not call it a bug if unsupported fan made content is what causes such a problem ..now on the other hand if its supported official content that happens in then its a bug

I'd call it a bug if it was unintended. If Bethesda purposely decided to fat man the whole FO4 modding community they would've told us so.

Actually, the modding community is already supporting the next-gen update (1.10.980 and later), and considering the differences it would be a tremendous ask to make them support two versions. Even Team Fallout London (FALON) is supporting the Next-Gen updated version of FO4 moving forward.

You can still download the entire offline install of the game, from GOG. That way, if you want to stay on the current version you will always have it. Bonus - it will never try to update itself.
