Of course, if like me you had entered what you paid into a spreadsheet every time you made a purchase or got a game from GOG, then you wouldn't need to do anything labor intensive to find out.

There can be many good reasons to keep records, beyond just showing off, including eventually deciding you've spent enough or maybe have been sensible enough, etc.

I certainly compare what I have spent on games versus other things. It is like monitoring yourself and maintaining control.

That sounds plausible, I guess. And no I don't really feel bad about it, I've been here now 12 years and my electric car which I bought two years ago cost twice that. Or, last summer when we went to Thailand for four weeks, I think we spent something like 5000 euros on that one trip alone (we didn't spend time in expensive hotels or anything, quite a lot of that money went to flight tickets alone, for four persons).

Money is meant to be spent, I can't take my money to the grave with me when I die, but I can take my GOG games and my electric car there, and keep utilizing them in the afterlife if I get bored or something.

I've spent about 9720 € on GoG on about 1400 games and I don't really regret it. Although sometimes I spot games on my library that make me think "why did you buy THIS one?".
But yeah, gaming is a hobby and most hobbies cost money. And yet there's way more expensive hobbies than playing games.

I'm seeing myself more as collector than a gamer though. I spend money to support good work and ideas.

What's interesting that GOGs attempts to get newer games seem to pay off: During the last three years I spent more on GOG than in the almost 10 years before.

I had to add a few hundred bucks to the amount spent directly on GOG, since I also supported some games on kickstarter where I would get a GOG key for.

I don't want to think about it. :P

You don't have to do this, just archive the offline installers onto an eHDD manually or using gogrepo.
