SeeJayGamer: So the theme here is the 80's, since this was the pinnacle of human achievement in design.
This one is so full of good witticisms that I needed a second look at it to notice some.

Thanks for the chuckles. :D

Urnoev: I am not a fan of "Let's Plays" and never really looked into the speedrun community before... I'm more of a film guy.
But I had a look (thanks to your giveaway, I might add) and am enjoying AGDQ quite a lot. It's fun seeing those individuals beat such many games so quick one after another. :)
It's especially funny when I see someone destroy a game I've played myself, for example Pokémon or Final Fantasy.
Ha, I'm glad I was able to convert someone to enjoying speedrunning ;) The Turok run I watched I found particularly exciting, due to having played the game on N64 upon release back when. That god jump! So, I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying. Great to hear you're having fun.

SeeJayGamer: If it's any consolation, this hurt me more to make than it hurt you to look at.
Well, I don't know about that! OW! Those young, innocent faces used in such a vile marketing endeavor. Hurts to see a whole generation of 1980s youth corrupted by a television game whose developers think that NSFW is a label of quality, implying radness. And to imagine parents will help them hook it up! The horror. The only solace I have is that sales will be hindered by the fact that almost no-one will be able to afford 2400 Baud hardware. Else we would have a rectal bleeding epidemic.

=.=

By the way, I'll keep updating the OP with all entries for the giveaway.

Thanks for noticing! I tried to put some subtleties into it, while maintaining an 80's feel... though I did put some references to some current events.

The NSFW warning label was intentionally opposite and "E" rating and if you think about it, when is playing a game ever safe for the workplace? (Well, unless you're working in the gaming industry!)

I was inspired by the show "Tim & Eric's Awesome Show Great Job".

Didn't know that existed, been watching some bits on YouTube - hilarious.
Roughly nine hours left for watching speedruns [stream], make sure you don't miss the obligatory Super Metroid run and the finale. Right now: Dark Souls 3. Donations for the charity are at around $1,225,000 right now o.O

For the giveaway, you have plenty of time to participate still. Something worse than this, and you are in :P

That's the best one by far.

Maybe make the prints a little more brown. I think that pic shows way too much dairy.

Always nice to see some GDQ speedruns. I usually just watch the archives they upload to YouTube (although the audio balancing this year has been terrible in some videos, unless they screwed up the uploads somehow), and I'm pretty amazed how far the event has come in terms of attendance and setup. Like, seriously, this is what the streams looked like years ago.

Haha, I originally had it even more on the yellow side. Just felt a darker brown wouldn't gel with the rest of the image tone-wise. Right, imagine it's due to too much dairy in the diet... And I'm glad we're having this discussion :D

I've noticed the low audio on some uploads too, I hope it doesn't happen on all of them - I have a lot of stuff to catch up on yet :) The really early days, these were happening in Mike Uyama's basement I believe. Incredible, those millions of dollars raised since 2010!

Please note: I'll have the giveaway open for at least 20 more hours. Expect it to close whenever I come online after that time has expired. Get your entries in :)

The giveaway is closed now.

This time it was especially difficult for me to pick just one winner, as all the entries were - in the context of this giveaway - perfectly awful :D Thanks everyone, for playing along and your appreciated participation; I can honestly say I abhorred each single one of your custom game covers. So, well done!

In the end, SeeJayGamer's contribution I felt was, after some longer pondering, the absolutely most painful to behold. Congratulations! Please let me know your game of choice.

Awesome Games Done Quick finished with a staggering $2,218,120.30 in donations for The Prevent Cancer Foundation! This through an event where people play video games fast for a week. Chew on that for a moment.

On top, see this fresh Wikipedia paragraph:

"First Games Done Quick event to raise over $2,000,000. First Games Done Quick event to raise $1 million in a single day (from $1 million to $2 million)."

As always, watch runs you missed on their official YouTube channel. Event schedule and other info in the speedrunning realm, see /r/speedrun. Next GDQ will be Summer Games Done Quick (July 2-9, mark your calendars). That one will likely benefit Doctors Without Borders (MSF) again.

That's all :)
Thanks chevkoch for yet another AGDQGA. Congrats to the winner.

Congrats to the winner, and congrats to GDQ for raising so much for charity.
I told you that lack of brown would be your downfall chevkoch! :P

As it stands, the chosen winner is clearly the best one, but just a little more hue to yours and you could have been #1, and given yourself the prize.

You actually can buy art made of shit. I'm not saying you'd want to, just mentioning it.
