Official statement here.

I am so disappointed. Not that I had my hopes too high for a GOG release, but this kind of left a bitter aftertaste.

An "interesting" part is towards the end, where the dev sort of apologizes to Steam users for his deal with Epic.

I know it's 100% his own life and business choices, not complaining about that. But, well, we could at least have the first game here after all those years.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Dan Adelman, my boi, this one's for you!
Too bad - the first one was a fun metroidvania style game that I greatly enjoyed. Oh well, my backlog is big enough as it is so it is what it is.
This is meh news to me.

I got Axiom Verge as a freebie from Epic, and I am expecting no less for this sequel.

I've only barely played the first game, meeeeeeeh! MEH!!!!
I don't think the dev of Axiom Verge is interested in releasing those games here. People asked him in the past and he said he was thinking about it but nothing ever happened. Sucks.
People ought to punish devs like that and end up either not buying the game or encouraging people not to. I know its a devs choice but it really is not fair to gamers (and people are against GOG having exclusives.. yeah....)

Hold on... did you happen to miss the juicy Twitter drama over a potential gog release of Axiom Verge 1?

I liked the game very much. Of all metroid-style games I've played, this one captures the Super Metroid feeling the best. A bit too much in some details, but still a great game.

I played it on the PS4, but wouldn't mind a GOG copy as well.

Don't know if that would actually work. Instead of boycotting, I wonder what would happen if lots of users massively contacted Adelman/Happ as a group and requesting the game on GOG (always in a civilized manner).

Cheers
Nobody yes door.
Have no idea about the game but in general, if Epic is a no-go for you, just pretend that the release got delayed by a year.

I still bare a grudge on the user who shall not be named for that shit.

Haha. I really don't care if I play it a year or two later. I'm annoyed by the fact that we didn't even get the first one here because Galaxy features were required by GOG (at least that's what I concluded from Adelman's last posts here in the forums).

GOG users are not even on the map for games like this. And now the developer also asks Steam users to be understanding and patient because Epic users will get it exclusively for a bit. It almost feels like a dark comedy :)

Simply pirate the games (no money for the dev) and see for other interesting devs who DO publish games DRM-free and buy those. I have no time to waste on such devs and even less money. Makes life much simpler.
