I see very mixed reviews for this game. Whereas it was on sale, I was going to give it a try, but some of the reviews said the game still has bugs. The reviews are older, so does anyone know if all the bugs have been addressed?

Still LOADED with bugs. I've been playing through the whole series and I'm in Chapter 6 of Baldur's Gate 2, picking away at Watcher's Keep before I tackle the finale and move on to Throne of Bhaal.

I save a lot in different slots so usually re attempting something 'fixes' it. One of the worst involved a bug with Edwin where he would repeat a line and the quest would not continue. I literally had to have my characters stand in very specific spots. Yeah.. I don't even know about that one. Took about 15 retries to get it right.

Besides being incompetent (this game has been out for years and still constant little issues) the devs are also social justice warriors and plopped some lovely propaganda into their add on, Siege of Dragonspear... the lowest point in the series now. Some of this is a factor in the lower ratings as well. Luckily they were not allowed to modify the base games, other than adding a few new characters which can be ignored if you like.

New characters are not written very well, but they've come in handy as I've been playing an evil party and BG2 simply did not have enough evil party member NPCs, so I appreciate that with the Enhanced Edition.

Don't recommend full price on any of their products. If you go for it save often and in different slots.
Buy the Enhanced Edition and you wil get the original classic edition, too.

Unlike the originals, the remakes are something like a parody. As the people working on them said all by themselves; "We tried to FIX Baldur's Gate"... From imaginary "problems" that only they could ever perceive.

Alas, it is no longer possible to get the originals standalone, which is the only important thing in this series. I won't analyze because i will be made to call certain things by their name and this will only enrage some "charismatic" people around, which i wouldn't want.

Originals are included in the remakes as an added bonus, but at a total price 2-3 greater to the one, the original packages had here on gog, standalone, before.

If all else fails, there is a trick to get only the originals. But i won't publicly discuss again, many people dissed me before.

The last time I tried one of your tricks I had an erection lasting longer than 4 hours. Never again!

The word "enhanced" means that they have added a widescreen mod, bug fix mod, created a load more bugs, and then charge a fortune. Buy the discs off amazon, get big world setup and that will give you the complete package. Forget spear of whatever its called.
Thanks to all for the replies! :)
