Look. If you don't use Windows, please don't spread crap about it.

Double click to mount ISOs and VHDs/VHDXs. Disk Management - > Create VHD to create virtual disks.

Yay! Features that are badly explained or not explained at all! Seriously, they change everything around on every version... quite annoying.



Double-clicking on an ISO just brings me up with a 'what program should i use?' option; As for VHD's, same thing actually, except i think it's partially identifying it with VirtualBox...interesting. Under computer->management->Disk Management it wouldn't let me experiment and make an empty VHD anywhere except on my NTFS volume... Go figure...

And still no RamDisk option, which i resort to imDisk for currently, and mounting ISO's...

Of course if any of this was fixed with a patch, i wouldn't know, i don't use automatic updates...

Windows 8 and 10 has image mounting built-in, earlier versions require additional software (Microsoft released a utility to mount ISO images on XP, Vista, and 7).

I prefer Alcohol 120% for mounting images, but mostly because I try and stay away from MS software as much as possible. I'm keeping win7 forever if I can help it!

modern filesystems do not really need defragmentation. in tandem with a fairly modern filesystem, the operating system sees to it that the filesystem does not become fragmented by default. NTFS and UNIX's various filesystems in ext4/3, zfs, jfs, reiserfs, btrfs all work this way.

I use Auslogics Disk Defrag. Doesn't take long with a 2TB HDD, has options to move certain files to the front of the disk, also you can set your priority of the program. Freakin awesome and haven't had issues with it for years.

But not sure if it's easier depending on making new threads, or harder.

I'm sure making it so 0 games owned can't post on the forum then they'll just go for a 'free' game, and if they haven't downloaded anything they'll just find the smallest file that counts as a download as an extra and get around that.

Time limits on new accounts to post won't mean much as they'll just make a few dozen bots and wait until said timer is out.

Though, new accounts or non-purchasing accounts requiring 2FA with a phone number on file (that has to be unique to other accounts) would likely work. But then people who lose email services or get a second account for their kid may have issues... well probably not so much on that account.

Requiring captcha for posting replies or new threads would be annoying.

Hmm having a 12-24 hour session for accounts with non-purchases would be slightly annoying, but people are likely to log in, download all their stuff in one go and then go away with nary any other interaction. I think that would be more annoying for the bot farms than it would be the users.
