Best - Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

The Star Trek cover based third person shooter that tied into the reboot movies is really bad. The crazy thing is that its not bad for the normal tie-in reasons. Typically tie-ins are not that great because they are low budget rush jobs. Star Trek wasn't though. It had a full multi year development cycle, and a AAA budget. They were trying to make a really great game. For the first hour I played of the game there was almost no combat. At that point I was actually enjoying the game. I figured if the game was that fun without combat It was going to be an absolute blast when the real fighting starts. I was wrong. The game just falls apart when the real enemy shows up. When I say it falls apart, I mean it REALLY falls apart. Considering its budget Its a failure of epic proportions. Most movie games are not great, but If you really like the movie you can still get some enjoyment from it. Not this one. Im struggling to find the words to describe how bad it is. Apparently Its so bad that it leaves me speechless. If you were trying to make a bad game it would still end up being more fun than this Star Trek game.

The Harry Potter games were pretty legit action adventure games up to the third one.

I also like The Warriors and From Russia With Love better than the movies they were based on.

Worst: Resident Evil movies

Best: FF7 - Advent Children


So many more bad than good...

Best: Blade Runner, by far. I'd say AvP1 second. Operation Genesis third. The three are brilliant.

[Edit: And yeah, I went too far into the past and overlooked it, but I rank recent Mad Max game as high, or almost as high, as the Blade Runner one. Very impressive stuff.]

Worst: Oh too many to hierarchize. But there was this irritating trend consisting in just skinning your next generic platformer with characters and backdrops inspired by the movie (blues brothers, addams family, etc). They weren't awful but i was always irritated when a franchise was slapped on a completely irrelevant gameplay. In a way i have more sympathy for awful failures that at least try to match the film with their clonky mechanics.

Mortal kombat films are fun, even the series Conquest was really enjoyable - wish I could find a complete DVD box set of each.

Aw come on! Watching Alicia Vikander for 2 hours wasn't that bad.

Best: FF, Blade Runner, and MK. Thankfully we got the rebooted miniseries some time ago, but other than that it's been quiet from that realm.

Bad: I wouldn't characterize Super Mario or Street Fighter as totally bad, but not great either, just entertaining and full of clichés. :-)

Worst: Double Dragon, Tekken and Far Cry by FAR. Tried to re-watch DD last year and I had to shut it off.

Also E.T. the best worst game of all time, I don't think any other game can top this one :-P

They must have been taking a massive amount of drugs to think that was a good idea. I'm still puzzled about how they got from the existing Mario games' world to the world they created for the movie.

I liked the first Resident Evil movie. I don't get that one being mentioned.
The others were not so great but you can't shit all over the first one for that.
