Hello!
V-day is just around the corner, and I've been thinking about matchmaking. For multiplayer games. Trololololol. In games where you rely on the program itself to find a partner or an opponent, which games do you think has the best and worst matchmaking systems?
Best:
Smash Bros Ultimate: I almost always find someone who is around my skill level. There's the occasional noob who I go up against, but that's more to do with him/her manipulating GSP.
MTG Arena: I feel like most of my matches have been fair.
Mortal Kombat 11: The game itself analyses the stats of you and the person you are up against. It then tells you the odds of you winning, and asks if you want to proceed with the match.
Worst:
Starcraft 2: When I played mutliplayer, I was in bronze indefinitely. It's not the game's fault I suck. What is the game's fault is having me face the best players in the game. The game actually put me in a match against MarineKing. It wasn't a smurf account, either. Come on, I can't even get 100 APM. I would be paired against someone who appears to be in the same league. When I check out their profile, I see they were in plat, diamond, or masters last season. So according to the game's logic - this person was in master league last week, and today they are the equivalent of a bronze player. I honestly question how many true bronze players there really are.
Overwatch: I see beginners are either paired with or up against veteran players all the time. I wouldn't call myself good. Maybe slightly decent. Regardless, I can definitely tell who just started and who's been playing for a while.
